Johnson, Fyten Named WCHA Players Of The Week
December 14, 2020 | Ice Hockey
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced weekly awards Monday afternoon (Dec. 14). Of those named, both Max Johnson and Seth Fyten received recognition, being the second consecutive week that two Falcons have been named. For both players it's the first time they've been named this season and for Johnson it is the fourth time in his career he's been the WCHA Forward of the Week.Â

After not being named during last season, Max Johnson wasted little time in being named the WCHA Forward of the Week, the second consecutive week that Bowling Green has collected the award. Over the weekend, Johnson tallied three points for the Falcons being two goals and one assist. On Friday night (Dec. 11), Johnson's goal marked the game-winner for the Orange and Brown, coming as a tip in with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. He then followed it up with the first goal in Saturday's (Dec. 12) 6-2 win to clinch the sweep as well as tallying an assist later in the game.Â
Also being recognized this week is freshman Seth Fyten, being the WCHA Rookie of the Week. Fyten scored a goal in both games for the Falcons over the weekend with Friday's score going down as his first collegiate point. His goal on Saturday was also the final score of the game for Bowling Green. The two points for Fyten are tied for the most among BGSU freshmen with Ethan Scardina who assisted on both of Fyten's goals.Â
The Falcons will be back on the ice this coming weekend, traveling to Hamden, Conn. for a road series with Quinnipiac that is set for Friday (Dec. 18) and Saturday (Dec. 19). The games will be available to stream through ESPN+.Â
