FULL RESULTS
Senior Kaila Butler, juniors Savannah Nevels and Ryen Draper, and redshirt freshman Katerina Shuble all etched their names into the BGSU record book Friday.
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS THEY GO
- Junior Savannah Nevels placed fifth in the 200 Friday with a personal best time of 24.56 seconds. One of four Falcons to set a new career-best time in the event during the day, Nevels is the fifth-fastest woman in school history in the event. Jeanette Pettigrew set the school record in 2014 at 24.14 seconds.
- Junior Ryen Draper continued a tremendous season for Bowling Green in the 400. Draper placed seventh in 55.70 seconds to make her the third-fastest in school history. This mark came just one week after teammate Iyanna Ross broke the school record in the same event at 55.39 seconds.
- Redshirt freshman Katerina Shuble broke her own career-best time in the mile by more than four seconds, running a time of 4:54.47. It makes her the third-fastest in program history and it is the fifth-fastest mile performance at BGSU. She is chasing one of the longest-standing school records, a mark that has stood since Hanane Sabri ran 4:46.63 in 1999.
- Senior Kaila Butler continues to dominate in the weight throw as she threw a new personal best 67-feet-4 (20.52m). No other student-athlete in the MAC is even within two feet of her distance as she is among the top 25 in the country. Butler ranks fourth in school history in the event, a distance that is held by former teammate Aliyah Gustafson, who threw 69-3.25 in 2018.
OTHER STRONG PERFORMANCES
- Along with cracking the record list in the 200, Nevels tied her personal best in the 60 with a time of 7.64 seconds in the prelims to qualify for finals. In the finals, she improved just slightly, running 7.63 to place fifth.
- Freshman Jemeila Hunter paced three underclassmen with personal bests in the 200. She ran 24.81 seconds in the distance, while sophomores Iyanna Ross (25.23 seconds) and Jazzlynn Gaiters (25.87) also established new collegiate bests.
- Freshman Trinity Fowler established a collegiate best time of 2:17.48 in the 800.
- Freshman Kailee Perry ran a collegiate best time of 5:00.95 in the mile to place 11th overall.
- Sophomore Ayanna Burrell recorded a personal best in the long jump, leaping 18-feet-2.5 (5.55m).
- Redshirt sophomore Brianna Richard did the same in the triple jump. She set a new indoor personal best and tied her outdoor PR with a mark of 38-4 (11.68m).
