Kaila Butler Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior Kaila Butler has been named the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for field. Butler set a new personal best in the weight throw as the Falcons competed at Grand Valley State's The Big Meet Friday.
Butler's last throw of the day was her best one as she recorded a distance of 67-feet-4 (20.52m). That mark is more than two feet further than any other student-athlete in the MAC has thrown this year and has her in contention for a bid to the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Championships. She currently ranks No. 24 in the country in the event. Butler also had marks of 19.79m and 19.18m in her six-throw series.
Butler ranks fourth in school history in the weight throw. She was a second team All-American a year ago during the outdoor track and field season, placing 12th in the nation at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in the hammer throw. A native of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Butler represents Team Canada on the international stage.
