Madisen Parker Named to Academic All-District Team
February 20, 2020 | Women's Basketball
Bowling Green State University women's basketball standout Madisen Parker has been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District® Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The team was announced on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 20). Parker, a junior, was named to the first team.
Parker is the first Falcon named to the team in five years, since Deborah Hoekstra also earned first-team honors in the 2014-15 season.
Parker, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., leads the Mid-American Conference and is ranked among the national leaders in multiple three-point shooting categories this season. She has started all 25 games for the Falcons this season, and is third on the team in scoring, with 12.1 points per game.
The junior has made 79 three-pointers this season, the third-highest total in school history. She leads the MAC in total three-point field goals made, triples made per game (3.16) and long-range accuracy (46.5%). She is ranked seventh or better in the nation in all three categories.
In the classroom, Parker is a middle childhood education major with a perfect 4.000 cumulative GPA.
The Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Parker and the other first-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced between March 9-12.
The Falcons are home for the next three games, beginning Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22), when BGSU faces Buffalo in a 1:00 p.m. start at the Stroh Center.
