JUMP BALL
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team hits the road for the remainder of the 2019-20 schedule. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons will play three true road contests in a six-day span, beginning with a Wednesday (March 4) matchup with Miami University. The Falcons and RedHawks will meet in a 7:00 p.m. tip at Millett Hall.
THE STARTING FIVE (FIVE FUN & FASCINATING FALCON FACTS)
• The Falcons are coming off of a 96-86, double-overtime loss to Kent State at the Stroh Center on Saturday (Feb. 29). It marked BGSU's school-record fifth OT contest of the season.
• On Senior Day, fourth-year Falcon Caterrion Thompson exploded for a career-high 32 points vs. the Golden Flashes, and tied a school single-game record by hitting eight three-pointers.
• The Falcons split a pair of games vs. the MAC East Division co-leaders last week, beating Ohio by 14 points before falling to KSU. Sophomore Kadie Hempfling averaged a triple-double in those two games, with totals of 21 points, 21 rebounds and 21 assists (10.5 per game in each category).
• It has been mentioned in previous editions of these notes (and it is mentioned in these notes as well) that BGSU has suffered numerous close losses in MAC play this season. The Falcons' six total games against the teams currently ranked one through four in the MAC standings have included a double-digit win, a pair of overtime losses and another game in which BG led with under four minutes to go.
• While BG has played many, many close games in conference competition, Wednesday's opponent dealt the Falcons their worst loss of the season. Miami, currently ranked 11th in the MAC's overall standings, picked up an 80-59 win at the Stroh Center on March 1 – BG's only loss of 20 or more points this season.
SENIOR DAY RECOGNITION
THE RedHAWKS
• Miami is 11-17 overall, and the RedHawks enter Wednesday's game with a 4-12 record in league action. MU is looking to snap a six-game losing streak. Most recently, Miami dropped a 75-62 home game vs. Akron on Saturday.
• MU is 6-5 at home, 4-11 on the road and 1-1 in neutral-site matchups this year to date. In MAC action, the 'Hawks are 3-5 in home games and 1-7 in hostile venues.
• Lauren Dickerson paces three double-digit scorers with a team-high 17.3 ppg, and she also leads the team with 4.5 apg. Savannah Kluesner has 15.7 ppg and a team-leading 8.6 rpg, and Peyton Scott has 12.7 ppg.
• Head coach DeUnna Hendrix, in her first season in Oxford, inherited nine returning players, including two starters, from a 2018-19 RedHawk squad that finished with records of 23-9 overall and 13-5 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Miami, 51-34, in the all-time series, but the RedHawks have captured the last six matchups. In this year's first meeting, Miami dealt the Falcons their worst loss of the season with a 21-point decision, 80-59, at the Stroh Center (Feb. 1, 2020).
