
Alec Rauhauser Inks Deal With Florida Panthers Organization

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The captain of the 2019-20 Bowling Green State University hockey team, Alec Rauhauser, has signed on with the Florida Panthers organization. Rauhauser will join former teammate Ryan Bednard who signed with the Panthers a year ago and spent the 2019-20 season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) and the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL).Â
This past season, Rauhauser was named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year and was a member of the All-WCHA First Team and WCHA All-Academic team. In the Orange and Brown, Rauhauser played in all 38 games, totaling a team-high 35 points. In doing so, Rauhauser became the first BGSU Defenseman to reach 100 career points since the 1996 season, concluding the year with 122 points, good for 52nd in program history and ninth among defensemen. Rauhauser also tallied 24 assists, second on the team, finishing out his career at Bowling Green with 93 assists. Rauhauser also etched his name in the elite of the NCAA, finishing sixth in the country for points per game by a defensemen and tied for first in the country for short-handed goals with three.Â
On the ice, Rauhauser served as the captain during the 2019-20 season, while off the ice he will complete a degree from Bowling Green State University in Individualized Business.Â
Rauhauser is the first member of the 2019-20 campaign to sign a contract after the abrupt end to the season. On the roster, Rauhauser was one of four seniors for the Falcons, being joined by Frederic Letourneau, Casey Linkenheld and Jacob Dalton.
