The women's basketball Falcons, like the men off to a 3-0 start in the MAC, face Western Michigan and Northern Illinois this week. BGSU travels to Kalamazoo for a Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 6) matchup with the Broncos, before returning home to meet the Huskies on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 9). BG has won three-straight games, including an emphatic 89-55 win at Ball State on Saturday night (Jan. 2). With that win, the Falcons matched the MAC win total for all of last season. Freshmen Lexi Fleming and Nyla Hampton led the way with 19 and 18 points, respectively, and senior Madisen Parker had 15 points for the Falcons. BGSU forced Ball State to commit 29 turnovers, and the Falcons had a whopping 38-8 advantage in points off turnovers. Fleming, Hampton and Kenzie Lewis all were in the starting lineup in Muncie, giving BGSU three freshmen in the starting five for the first time in nearly two years. BGSU leads the all-time series with Western Michigan by a narrow 36-35 margin, but the Broncos captured two of last year's meetings, with the home team winning all three. The last matchup came in the first round of the MAC Tournament. The Falcons lead NIU, 24-18, in that series, but the Huskies captured a 92-87 win in overtime at the Stroh Center last year. In case you were wondering, BG leads the series with all 11 MAC opponents.
