Wright, Cullen Named WCHA Players Of The Week
January 04, 2021 | Ice Hockey
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced the players of the Week on Monday (Jan. 4). Of those named, Cameron Wright and Will Cullen received recognition from the conference. This comes after both Wright and Cullen were named WCHA Players of the Month for December as well.
Full WCHA release can be found HERE.Â
For Wright, he continued his recent dominance with four points over the last week of action in which the Falcons played three games. Wright's best game came on Saturday (Jan. 2) against Ferris State when he logged three points in the 6-1 victory. Those three points came from two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist. Wright then followed up that outing with another goal in Sunday's (Jan. 3) contest, again netting the game-winner for the Falcons. With three game-winning goals now this season, Wright is tied for second in the nation for the statistic.Â
As for Cullen, he also totaled four points over the last week, but did so in a different fashion. He first had a two-point game against Robert Morris, tallying an assist on a power play score before netting the game-winner himself. Cullen followed that up with two more points in the first game against Ferris State for a multiple-assist performance with one coming on a power play goal. With the four points, Cullen now has 11 points on the season, placing him at 12th in the nation for points per game among defensemen.Â
The Falcons will resume play this coming week with their second WCHA series of the season, playing host to Bemidji State. The series will take place on Thursday and Friday (Jan. 7 and 8) with both games set for 7:07 p.m. puck drops at the Slater Family Ice Arena. Both matchups will also be available to stream on FloHockey.Â
