The Bowling Green State University football team dropped a 55-24 decision to Eastern Michigan University on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 23). The Mid-American Conference game was held at Perry Stadium.
The Falcons (2-6, 0-4 MAC) traded scores with the Eagles for the bulk of the first half, with a Terion Stewart touchdown run giving the hosts a 10-7 lead. Eastern (5-3, 2-2 MAC) responded with a Ben Bryant TD, then blocked a BG punt, with David Carter returning it 42 yards for a score with 3:35 left before halftime.
EMU tacked on a field goal on the final play of the half to take a 24-10 lead at the intermission, then got a TD on the opening drive of the second half.
The Eagles had relatively narrow advantages of 24-19 in first downs and 455-374 in total offense. Bryant was 20-of-26 through the air for the visitors, with two touchdown tosses, while seven different EMU receivers had at least two catches each.
For the Falcons, Matt McDonald was 20-for-35 for 223 yards, while Stewart had 57 yards on the ground. Austin Osborne led the receiving corps with five catches, as 10 different Falcons caught at least one pass.
QUOTING COACH LOEFFLER
"We couldn't get going, period. We would be positive, positive, positive. Second and three, and then jump offsides. We are not a football team right now that can overcome that."
