Falcons Welcome Fans Back To Slater With Offensive Outburst

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons hockey team (2-0-2) earned a 6-4 victory over the Miami Redhawks (1-4-1) in the 2021-22 home opener. Three Falcons scored their first goal of the season, including senior transfer Coale Norris. Ethan Scardina netted a goal for the third consecutive game, while Nathan Burke scored his team-high fourth goal of the season.

Scoring Plays
- Chase Gresock gave the Redhawks an early lead with a goal just 35 seconds after puck drop. Red Savage earned the only assist.
- Ethan Scardina evened the score in the first period with a power play goal, marking the third consecutive game the sophomore has found nylon. Brayden Krieger and T.J. Lloyd were credited with the assists, the second consecutive game each skater has tallied an assist.
- Gresock found the net to give Miami the advantage again, scoring an unassisted even-strength goal in the middle of the first period.
- Ryan Savage extended the lead for Miami with a second period goal. Derek Daschke and Red Savage earned the assists.
- Max Coyle found the puck in the offensive zone and slotted a score just three minutes later, cutting the Falcons' deficit in half. Ben Wozney earned the assist, the first point of his career.
- Nathan Burke netted his team-best fourth goal of the season just 17 seconds later, tying the game at 3-3. Austen Swankler and Anton Malmstrom notched the assists.
- Miami reclaimed the lead in the second period with a power play goal by Thomas Daskas. The assists were credited to Joe Cassetti and Jack Clement.
- The Falcons wasted no time tying the game in the third period, with Taylor Schneider lighting the lamp only 35 seconds into the period. Senior Sam Craggs and freshman Eric Parker earned the assists.
- Austen Swankler gave the Falcons the lead in the final period, scoring on a cleanup in front of the net. Coale Norris and Nathan Burke tallied the assists.
- Coale Norris secured the win with a late empty net goal, with Taylor Schneider tallying the lone assist.

- Nathan Burke, Taylor Schneider, Austen Swankler, and Coale Norris each tallied a goal and an assist. This marked the first multi-point night of the season for Swankler, Norris and Schneider, and the second mulit-point performance for Burke.
- Burke leads the team with four goals after his second period score.
- Ethan Scardina has scored in three consecutive games for the Falcons, extending his career point total to eight. Scardina has also scored the first goal of the game for the Orange and Brown in three consecutive games.
- Max Coyle tallied his first goal of the season, which is the first of his collegiate career.
- Ben Wozney, Sam Craggs, and Anton Malmstrom each tallied their first assist of the season, with Wozney's marking his first collegiate point.
- T.J. Lloyd and Brayden Krieger tallied their second assists of the season, with Anton Malmstrom adding an assist for his first point of the season.
- The Falcons totaled 40 shots, their highest total of the season. They also totaled season-bests in goals (6), assists (10), and points (16).
