Horizon League favorite IUPUI comes to town
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, off to a 1-0 start to the 2021-22 season, returns to the Stroh Center on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 14). Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons, the defending Mid-American Conference regular-season champions, welcome IUPUI to town for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
• The Jaguars were picked to win the Horizon League in 2021-22 and boast the three-time league player of the year in Macee Williams.
• Fralick, in her fourth season at the helm of the Falcons, returns 10 players off of last year's BGSU roster.
• The Falcons, after going 10-21 overall and 3-15 in the MAC two years ago, were picked to finish 11th in the 12-team league in 2020-21, according to the preseason coaches' poll. BG proceeded to post a 14-4 MAC record to win the regular-season crown. Then, the Orange and Brown defeated Eastern Michigan and Buffalo in the MAC Tournament in Cleveland, before falling to Central Michigan in the championship game.
• BGSU advanced to the WNIT, and the Falcons finished with an overall record of 21-8. BG tied for the second-best turnaround in the nation, with an improvement of +12.0 games.

MASK UP

This includes fans and media (including radio, TV and web-stream broadcasters).
• If spectators are unwilling to wear masks, they are encouraged not to attend games in person for the sake of their health and the health of others.
GOOD START
• The Falcons got the 2021-22 season off to a successful start, scoring the first seven points of the game en route to a 90-58 win over East Tennessee State Thursday night (Nov. 11). Kadie Hempfling had 20 points – and went 6-for-7 from three-point range – to pace five double-digit scorers, while Nyla Hampton scored 10 of her 15 points in the first quarter to stake the Falcons to an early lead.
GOOD START II
• Two Falcon freshmen were in the starting lineup to begin their respective collegiate careers. Both Zoe Miller and Amy Velasco were in the starting five for the ETSU game on Thursday night.
• Miller had 13 points and six rebounds in her debut, while Velasco scored six points and dished out five assists.
WELCOME!
• BGSU's four newcomers all saw action on Thursday, combining for 40 points and 23 rebounds vs. ETSU. In addition to Miller and Velasco (see the previous note), Morgan Sharps had 11 points and six boards, while Jocelyn Tate scored 10 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE JAGUARS
• IUPUI is 0-1 on the young season, but that loss was an overtime setback on the road against the number-11 team in the nation. The Jaguars dropped a 67-62 decision to Michigan on Tuesday (Nov. 9).
• Head coach Austin Parkinson's team went 15-5 overall and 11-3 in Horizon League play last year, and the Jags were voted atop the league's preseason polls for 2021-22. The team's returnees include three-time Horizon League Player of the Year Macee Williams.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead IUPUI, 2-1, in the all-time series, but the teams have not played in just under 16 years. BGSU battled the Jags three times in a three-year span from 2002 to '05, winning at home (Dec. 30, 2002) and losing on the road (Dec. 22, 2003) before capturing a 66-55 win (Nov. 25, 2005) in the last meeting, in a tournament hosted by Indiana.
DOWN THE ROAD
• BGSU will conclude a stretch of three games in a seven-day span with a Wednesday (Nov. 17) matchup at Ohio State. The Falcons' first road contest of the season is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at the Schottenstein Center.
• The Jaguars were picked to win the Horizon League in 2021-22 and boast the three-time league player of the year in Macee Williams.
