Women's Golf Adds Mickelson, Steen To Program
November 17, 2021 | Women's Golf
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team and Head Coach Stephanie Young announced the addition of two players to the program on National Signing Day earlier this week. The Falcons will welcome both Averi Mickelson and Olivia Steen.
"We are thrilled to welcome both Averi and Olivia to the Falcon Family!" said Head Coach Stephanie Young. "These young women are talented student-athletes both on and off the golf course. They share a passion for the game and a desire to be difference makers for our program. Olivia and Averi love this campus and community and we are excited for them to be a part of it soon. This class loves to compete and it will be fun to watch the next chapter of their careers."
Averi Mickelson - Liberty North HS; Kansas City, Mo.
Mickelson was a highly decorated athlete at Liberty North High School, being a three-time All-State recipient. Mickelson was also named All-Conference and All-District all four years of high school while being the conference champion as a sophomore, junior and senior, becoming the school's first women's golfer to be District champion, Conference champion and All-State recipient. She was also named the Player of the Year each season. In state competitions, Mickelson placed sixth as both a sophomore and a senior while placing 10th as a junior. Mickelson also holds the school record for the lowest 18-hole score with a score of 70.

Olivia Steen - Colorado Early Colleges; Fort Collins, Colo. (Played for Fossil Ridge HS)
Steen saw success in high school, being named First Team All-Conference and First Team Academic All-State. She won the Denver City Women's Amateur Championship and took second at the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Tour Championship while placing third in the 2021 state championships, posting scores of 74 and 72. As a freshman in 2019, Steen aided the team to a 5A state title, placing fourth with a score of 74.
