Davis Leads Falcons At Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team wrapped up play at the Spring Break Shootout on Tuesday. The event took place over March 15-16 at the Par-71 (6,056 yards) Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (Lake Jovita South Course). The 15-school field and 54-hole event was hosted by Florida Gulf Coast. The Falcons finished ahead of MAC-rival Ohio while posting a team score of 926.
The Falcons were led by Kayla Davis for the second-straight event. Davis finished T-34 with a very consistent event of 76-74-75. All six of Davis' rounds this spring have been 78 or lower.
Nichole Cox finished right behind Davis at 44, registering a three-day total of 78-73-77. Cox's round-two 73 was Bowling Green's best round of the tournament.
In her first event as a Falcon, Emily Pantig-Nystrom led the Orange and Brown with nine birdies at the tournament. The freshman was BGSU's 18-hole leader after carding a 75 on Monday morning. Dani Austinson finished close behind with six birdies, including a four-birdie opening round on her way to a round-one 77. Sammi Blackburn improved throughout the 36-hole Monday, posting an 80-79. As did Aly Kovach, who carded two birdies in each of the first two rounds on her way to an 83-80 Monday.
