
Falcons Open Season At Miami's Blizzard Buster

Oxford, Ohio – After the cancelation of the entirety of the 2020 season, the Bowling Green State University outdoor track & field team returned to action for the first time in two years Saturday, competing at Miami's (Ohio) Blizzard Buster.
Seniors Savannah Nevels and Kaila Butler led the way as Nevels set a new personal best in the 100, climbing up the all-time BGSU leaderboard. Butler posted a national top 10 performance in the hammer throw, looking to build upon second team All-American honors from 2019.

- Savannah Nevels placed third in the 100 with a personal best time of 11.96 seconds. That time moves her into seventh in program history in the event.
- Kaila Butler won the hammer throw with a distance of 210-feet-1 (64.04m). That mark places her third in the East and No. 9 in the nation. Butler placed 12th in the country in the hammer throw at the 2019 Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
- Freshman Izzy Klett made her javelin debut, throwing 120-9 (36.81m). That mark places her sixth in program history in the event.
- Junior Zaresha Neal won the shot put with a distance of 51-3 (15.62m).
OTHER NOTABLE RESULTS
- Freshman Payton Gorman was the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 57.79 seconds. She also finished sixth in the 200.
- BGSU's 400 relay team of Savannah Nevels, Jemeilah Hunter, Ryen Draper and Brianna Richard was second in 46.67 seconds. The Falcons won the MAC title in 400 relay at the indoor championships for the second straight year.
- Along with a strong performance in the javelin, Klett finished third in the long jump at 17-feet-4.25 (5.29m).
- Freshman Chloe Amoroso was second in the triple jump at 34-3 (10.44m).
UP NEXT
- BGSU will compete at two different meets in the next week, beginning with the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. starting Thursday. The meet lasts three days.
- The Falcons will also send competitors to the Texas Relays is Austin, Texas beginning Thursday.
