March 24, 2021 | Women's Tennis
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio– The new Oracle ITA Division I Women's Singles Rankings were released on Wednesday afternoon (March 24) and Bowling Green freshman Selina Karg found her name on the list, being tied for 123rd in the nation with Xavier's Kat Lyman and Liberty's Esther Lovato.
Karg is off to an 8-1 standing in singles play this year for the Falcons, getting out to an 8-0 start before her first loss this past Sunday (March 21). Karg's eight singles wins are currently tied with Ayumi Sasaki for the most on the team this season. Karg also has six doubles wins, which leads the team as well, to total a team-high 14 wins this year. She has played No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles so far this season, being 2-0 at both No. 4 and No. 6 singles while being 4-1 at No. 5.
Quote From Coach
"This is a big accomplishment for a freshman and I am so proud of Selina! She came in and stepped up for us since day one in practice and matches. She not only has what it takes to help this program reach the next level but is also one of the best teammates I've seen. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her!"
As a team, the Falcons are currently 7-3 while being 3-1 in MAC play. They are set for two more conference matches this weekend, traveling to face Ball State on Friday (March 26) before returning to their home courts on Sunday (March 28) to host Miami with both matches set for 1 p.m. starts.
