Five Falcons Compete at ITA Regionals

URBANA, Ill.– The BGSU tennis team traveled to Urbana, Ill. this weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships hosted by the University of Illinois.
The event consisted of both a singles and doubles bracket. Five members of the BGSU tennis team represented the Falcons at the ITA Regionals across the two brackets. Tia Clemens and Konstantina Adamopoulou both competed in the singles tournament, and the duos competing in the doubles bracket for BGSU were Libby Blair and Leticia Fonseca along with Kiera Taylor and Konstantina Adamopoulou.

The story of the tournament for BGSU was Konstantina Adamopoulou. Her tournament began in the singles qualifying draw, in which she needed to win two matches to earn entry into the main singles draw. On Thursday, Oct. 16, she defeated Helin Alvarez of Depaul University 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the final round of qualifying. She then went on to defeat Ava Bruno of the University of Michigan, 6-1, 6-3 and earned entry into the main singles draw.

The ITA Regionals will be the last competitive action for the Falcons this fall, as their matches with Grace College and Indiana University-East originally scheduled for next weekend (Oct. 25) are canceled. The Falcons will enjoy some time away from competition as they build towards their conference schedule in the spring of 2026.
