BGSU to face WVU, NIU at Cochrane
• The Falcons enter the final week of the regular season in first place in the MAC standings. BGSU is 4-2-0 in conference play, just ahead of West Virginia and Western Michigan, and the Mountaineers come to Cochrane Stadium on Wednesday afternoon (April 14). Then, the Falcons will close the regular season by hosting Northern Illinois on Sunday (April 18).
• BGSU has played at home just twice in the first 10 matches of the season, and both of those contests have been 1-0 overtime victories. On Sunday (April 11), Vinny Worner's 'Golden Goal' gave the Falcons their first home win over Akron since October of 2002.
• The Falcons had advantages of 25-8 in total shots, 9-0 in shots on goal and 12-4 in corner kicks vs. the Zips. The UA game was BG's fourth shutout in MAC play, the program's highest total since the 1998 team kept five clean sheets in eight MAC regular-season matches.
• BGSU has recorded four MAC wins in a season for the first time since 2002, when the Orange and Brown went 4-1-0 in league action and tied for the MAC's regular-season title.
• The MAC is the number-one conference in the nation in the most recent RPI rankings (through Sunday's matches), and BGSU currently has the highest winning percentage and the most points per match of any MAC team. Four of the six league schools are ranked among the top-30 teams in the nation in the RPI, including West Virginia (third), BGSU (21st), Western Michigan (29th) and Akron (30th). Northern Illinois (74th) and SIUE (95th) round out the six MAC teams, all of whom are ranked in the top 100.
• The Falcons have a record of 24-13-3 over the last 40 matches, dating to late in the 2018 season. Nine of the 13 setbacks have come by a single goal.
