15 Falcons Named To Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Fifteen Bowling Green State University cross country student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 11). The women's team tallied the third-most honorees in the conference with nine student-athletes earning the award, while the men's team tallied six honorees. Seven of Bowling Green's 15 honorees boast perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.

Bowling Green's list of honorees includes Olivia Collett, Alyssa Ellerbrock, Sydnie Firment, Kristin Groppe, Elise Johnson, Sydney Niekamp, Kailee Perry, Riley Robertson, and Katerina Shuble on the women's side, as well as Cesar Arellano, Drew Blazer, Christian Gagliardi, Vince Manning, Omar Vazquez, and Mikey Worboy on the men's side.

Shuble leads the Falcons as a three-time Academic All-MAC honoree, while Firment, Johnson, Niekamp, Perry, and Manning were each recognized for the second straight year.

To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must excel in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
