Nathan Burke Nominated For Hobey Baker Memorial Award

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Nominees for the 2022 Hobey Baker Memorial Award have been announced, with Bowling Green hockey's Nathan Burke earning a nomination. Burke leads the Falcons with 13 goals on the season, including five power play scores and one game-winning goal. The senior forward has five assists, giving him 18 points. Burke is tied for 15th in the NCAA in total goals and tied for 11th in the country in power play goals. The Scottsdale, Arizona native is tied for fourth in the CCHA in goals and tied for second in the conference in power play goals.

There are four criteria against which nominees for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award are considered:
Burke, who obtained a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Minnesota, is pursuing his Master's degree at the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business

Bowling Green hockey has had two players selected as the Hobey Baker Award winner. George McPhee (1982) and Brian Holzinger (1995) were both selected during their time as Falcons.

How to Vote/Fan Giveaway/Selection Process
Fans can vote by visiting hobeybaker.com/awards/vote-for-hobey. Votes are limited to one per day and fans must create an account. The Hobey Baker Puck Giveaway will run until the end of the first round of voting (March 6, 2022, @ Midnight).
Three names will be drawn to receive the winner's puck after the announcement of the winner. To enter simply vote, once per day, for your favorite Hobey Baker Candidate on this website. After you vote check the "Join our email list to qualify for the Hobey Baker Puck Giveaway." box to confirm your entry. Price Waterhouse Coopers tabulates the votes and the top 10 candidates are announced.
Voting then commences for the "Hobey Hat Trick," which is a narrowing of the field from ten players to three, from which the winner is selected. The primary voting in this part of the process is by the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Selection Committee, a geographically balanced group of 29 individuals representing print and electronic sports media, college hockey coaches and officials, and NHL scouts. Fans may also vote online for their favorite candidate during this phase of the process.

After the three finalists for the award are announced ("Hobey Hat Trick"), the countdown begins toward the announcement of the award winner in a nationally televised ceremony.

Bowling Green will continue CCHA competition with a road series against Ferris State. The Falcons and Bulldogs will face off at 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 28, and 6:07 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 29. Both games will be held at R.L. Ewigleben Sports Complex in Big Rapids, Michigan.

- Contribution to the integrity of the team and outstanding skills in all phases of the game
- Scholastic achievement and sportsmanship
- Compliance with all NCAA rules, including being a full-time student in an accredited college or university and completing 50 percent or more of the season
