BGSU Men's Hoops Returns Home To Stroh Saturday Against Southern Indiana

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will return home to the Stroh Center this Saturday (Nov. 26) for their second home game of the season, hosting Southern Indiana. The game is currently set for a 4:00 p.m. tip and will mark the first meeting all-time between the two programs. The contest will be available to watch on ESPN+. Saturday will mark the first meeting all-time between the Falcons and Screaming Eagles. Southern Indiana is currently in their first season at the Division-I level. Southern Indiana will mark the fourth team in the first six games that the Falcons will face for the first time during the Coach Huger Era. The others include Air Force, St. Bonaventure and Notre Dame.

Fans holding tickets for the originally scheduled time of 2 p.m. will still be able to use those tickets for admission to the adjusted 4 p.m. time.

Scouting The Screaming Eagles
Southern Indiana has had two common opponents with Bowling Green this season, facing Notre Dame and St. Bonaventure as part of the Gotham Classic. Southern Indiana lost to both opponents, falling 82-70 against Notre Dame and 80-66 against St. Bonaventure. The Screaming Eagles currently have five players averaging double-digit points. Jelani Simmons leads the way with 14.4 points per game while Jacob Polakovich is averaging 11.7 points per game as well as 8.3 rebounds.
New In Towns
Sam Towns joined the Falcons before the start of the 2022-23 season and has been growing into his new role with BGSU, earning his first collegiate start against Notre Dame. Towns has increased his scoring as the season has progressed, tallying a career-high nine against the Fighting Irish, going an efficient 4-of-6 from the field. So far this season, Towns is averaging 4.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game over 17.3 minutes per game.
Turner Earns First Start
Chandler Turner earned his first start with the Falcons against Notre Dame, tallying seven points and four rebounds for Bowling Green. This season, Turner has registered double-digit points twice, including a season-high 16 to go along with 10 rebounds against Oakland for his first career double-double. Through the first five games, Turner is averaging 8.6 points per game and 5.0 rebounds.
Huger At Home In BG
Head Coach Michael Huger is one of just 49 Division-I head coaches leading his alma mater. Now in his eighth season at the helm of the Orange and Brown, Huger has tallied 116 wins for the Falcons with 67 coming inside the Stroh Center. Huger has a 67-39 record when playing at home, good for a .632 winning percentage. Under Huger, the Falcons have registered at least nine home wins in a season five times and went a combined 27-2 at home over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns.
