BGSU Men's Hoops To Welcome Fairmont State For School Day Game Monday Morning

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will stay at home inside the Stroh Center for the second of three straight home games to finish out the non-conference schedule. Bowling Green will host Fairmont State in the Battle of the Falcons on Monday (Dec. 19). The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. tip at the Stroh. Fans can tune in to the action via WFRO Eagle 99. Monday will mark the second official meeting all-time between Bowling Green and Fairmont State. The two teams played an exhibition game last season, but the lone regular season contest between the two came during the 2019-20 season. The Orange and Brown came away with the win in that game by a score of 88-66. In that meeting, Justin Turner led the way with 16 points while a freshman Isaac Elsasser tallied his first collegiate points.

Monday's game will be the School Day Game, welcoming a number of schools throughout the region to the Stroh Center and continuing a multi-year partnership with BGSU basketball and local schools. Fans planning to attend the game should plan for a louder environment. General attendance will be relocated to the Anderson Club seating for this contest.

The game against Bowling Green will cap off a stretch of three games in three days for Fairmont State. Fairmont State's schedule saw the Falcons host Felician on Saturday and Penn State Greater Allegheny on Sunday at noon before making their way to Bowling Green for Monday's game. Fairmont State is led by Isaiah Sanders, averaging over 19 points per game and one of six Falcons averaging double-digit points.Â

Rebounding has been a telling stat for the Falcons so far this season. Through the first 11 games, BGSU is 4-0 when outrebounding their opponent, but 0-6 when being outrebounded and 0-1 when rebounds are equal. In wins this season, the Falcons are averaging 42.5 rebounds per game and average nine more rebounds than their opponent. However, in losses this year the Falcons average 35.1 rebounds, 2.6 fewer than their opponents in those games. BGSU's largest margin of victory this season came when the team logged a season-high 49 boards.Â
Metheny Finding His ShotÂ
Kaden Metheny has improved his three-point mark by 81 percentage points over the last two games. Over the first seven games of the season, Metheny shot 12-of-40 from behind the arc for a .300 three-point percentage. However, over the last two games Metheny has gone 12-of-23 from three-point range for a percentage of .522 to improve his season mark .381. Metheny matched his career-high for threes against Norfolk State with eight before hitting four against Tennessee Martin.Â
Elsasser Makes First Collegiate StartÂ
Senior Isaac Elsasser made his first collegiate start against Tennessee Martin and played a career-high 35 minutes in the contest. Elsasser has watched his role grow over the last three games, averaging 22.7 minutes per game over that span after averaging 6.9 over the first eight games. Over the last three games, Elsasser is averaging 7.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting .429 from the field and .667 from three.
Lightfoot Lights It Up Â
Willie Lightfoot played a career-high 24 minutes against Tennessee Martin and recorded a career-high 15 points for the Falcons. In the game, Lightfoot made a career-best five field goals and matched his career-high for free throws made with four. Over the last three games, Lightfoot is averaging 8.7 points and 4.0 assists per game.Â
