February 26, 2022 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team finished up competition today at the MAC Championships in the Cooper Pool of BGSU.
The Falcons left the MAC Championships with their heads held high. The Falcons finished 6th in this year's competition. Senior Kellie House left Cooper Pool with an All-MAC Second Team selection to go along with fellow swimmer Daisy Platts 1st Team All-MAC honors.
The prelims brought more shuffling across the record books thanks to this week's performances by the Falcons. Fly swimmers Fabiana D'Ambrogio and Ava Vial added the 4th and 6th fastest times in program history in the 200 Butterfly event with times of 2:01.39 and 2:01.99. D'Ambrogio swimming to a time of 2:01.99 even earned her a spot in the championship finals in the event. Both swimmers in their respective finals added the 7th (Vial) and 8th (D'Ambrogio) fastest times in school history, with D'Ambrogio finishing 8th overall in the MAC in the 200 Butterfly.
Finals brought more of the same. Breaststroke Swimmer Taylor Harris notched the 8th fastest time in school history during consolation finals with a time of 2:16.91, just one day after swimming to 3 of the fastest 10 times in school history in the 100 Breaststroke.
Senior Kellie House stole the show in the 1650 Freestyle. House was the 6th seed going into the event where she eventually took second overall in the MAC with a time of 16:44.11, which was good enough to place House as the second fastest swimmer in school history in the event. House ends her senior year at Bowling Green with the 2nd and 10th fastest times in school history in both the 500 Freestyle and 1650 Freestyle.
Senior Daisy Platts picked up right where fellow senior Kellie House left off with a second-place finish in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:55.17. Thanks to Platts' times during prelims and finals she now owns the 10 fastest times in school history in the event. Platts will leave Bowling Green with the program record in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 200 IM event, and as a part of both school record relay teams in the 200 and 400 Medley. Platts also has 6 individual wins in MAC Championships, 3 in the 100 Backstroke and 3 in the 200 Backstroke to finish her fantastic Falcon career.
Diver Rayah Blood proceeded headfirst into the 3-Meter Dive finals after a strong showing from the Orange and Brown divers the day before. Yesterday the Falcons had 5 divers finish in the top 16 in the 3-Meter Dive before the championship finalsi. After a freshman finish of 10th in the event a year earlier Blood made sure to leave a mark on the MAC. Blood finished as the 4th highest scorer in the MAC in the championship final with a score of 271.60
