Ann Arbor Awaits Three Falcon Divers

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University diving Team has three divers headed to Ann Arbor, Michigan for NCAA Diving Zones. Divers Zoe Smith, Grace Ellis, and Rayah Blood all qualified for their respective zones during various points throughout the season.
This will be the first time that any of the three sophomore divers have qualified for NCAA Diving Zones. Smith qualified for the 1 Meter Dive, while Blood and Ellis qualified for both the 1- and 3-Meter Dives.
Smith's Season Summary
It was a strong spring season for Smith. Besides qualifying for the 1-Meter NCAA Diving Zones Smith finished in the top five in four 1-Meter Dive events in the Falcons five regular season meets in the spring. Smith also took home two individual victories in the 1-Meter Dive in the first spring meet against rival Toledo and in a dual meet at Ohio University with Cleveland State. In the meet at home against Toledo Smith secured the top spot with her season high in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 269.85.
Ellis' Season Summary
Sophomore Grace Ellis looks to take her momentum from last week's MAC Championships to good use into Monday's diving zones. Ellis finished 7th in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 263.25 in consolation finals and then finished 11th in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 288.25 during consolation finals. Ellis' 288.25 was her season high score in the 3-Meter Dive.
Ellis finished the spring season with two top five finishes in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dive events in the Falcon's five meets and capturing a win in the 1-Meter Dive (at Marshall University where she put up a season high of 279.45) and one in the 3-Meter Dive (at Ohio University with Cleveland State).
Rayah's Season Summary
Rayah Blood only got better as the season went on. Blood finished the regular season with her best performance of the spring. At rival Toledo. Blood won the 1-Meter Dive with a season high of 282.53 before posting another season high in the 3-Meter a later with a score of 285.83. Blood finished the season with two top five performances in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dive events across the Orange and Brown's five spring meets.
After a stellar performance at Toledo, Blood was even better at home in the Cooper Pool for MAC Championships. Blood finished 13th in the Mid-American Conference in the 1-Meter Dive with a consolation final score of 260.70. The next night Blood was the top performer of the five Falcons in the top sixteen in the 3-Meter Dive. Blood went on to finish 4th in the conference with a score of 271.60, an improvement of six spots from her freshman season.
