Breaking Down Bowling Green
The Falcons have competed twice this season, including the Early Bird Open on Jan. 14 that saw them claim the team crown with 111 points. Brianna Richard won the long jump and triple jump at that meet, with Kailee Perry backing her with a win in the mile and a third-place finish in the 800. Kylee Cubbison made her collegiate debut in the 3K and took first place. Five throwers earned a PR in the weight throw, including Mateya Haintz, who placed second overall. BGSU also competed in December, hosting the Tom Wright Open. The meet featured several strong performances from Falcon freshmen, included high jump champion Bianca Staples. That same weekend, Katerina Shuble ran the 3K at the GVSU Holiday Open, finishing with a PR of 9:36.09 that is less than a half second shy of the school record.
Â
Up Next
The Falcons will split up for a pair of road meets next weekend. One group of the team will travel to University Park, Pa., for the Penn State National Open. This meet will be held over two days (Jan. 27-28). The second group of Falcons will travel to Geneva, Ohio, for the SPIRE Collegiate Invitational. This will be a one-day event, held on Jan. 27.
