BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has recognized three student-athletes as its Women's Tennis Players of the Week, with Bowling Green's Lucy Furness and Hannah Neuman earning MAC Doubles Team of the Week. The junior duo went 2-0 in BGSU's first matches of the spring season, playing in the No. 2 spot both times.
MAC Doubles Team of the Week: Lucy Furness and Hannah Neuman, Bowling Green
The doubles duo of Lucy Furness and Hannah Neuman went 2-0 on the weekend, helping the Bowling Green Falcons to a 1-1 record in their road non-conference competitions. On Friday, the juniors took down the Holy Cross College team of Anna Beer and Victoria Savvidou by a score of 7-5. The following day, they earned BGSU's lone doubles victory over UIC, defeating Tamara Malazonia and Cora-Lynn von Dungern by a score of 6-2. Furness and Neuman, who were playing in the No. 2 spot, had not been doubles partners prior to this weekend. This is the first time Furness has earned a MAC honor and second recognition of Neuman's career.
Coach Bonnell's Outlook
"Hannah and Lucy showed some very nice chemistry in the fall and it has carried over to our young spring season. When you find a piece of the puzzle that fits, it helps the rest of the lineup fall into place."
Up Next
