• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team begins the home portion of the Mid-American Conference schedule this weekend. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons meet Eastern Michigan University on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 7), with tipoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Stroh Center.

AN UNFAMILIAR POSITION
• The Falcons are coming off of a loss for the first time since mid-November. BGSU suffered an 81-73 loss at Ball State on Wednesday night (Jan. 4), the Falcons' first setback since a Nov. 17 game at nationally-ranked Indiana.
• The loss at BSU snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Falcons, the longest such streak since 2013-14.
FOUR AND OH AT THE STROH
• BG enters Saturday's EMU matchup with a record of 4-0 in home games this season. The Falcons have begun the home portion of the schedule with four-straight wins for the fourth time in the last five seasons, and the fifth time in the Stroh Center Era.
• Both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 teams began the home schedule with four-straight wins, while the '18-19 team started off with a 5-0 home record. The 2013-14 club went 16-0 at home before losing to Rutgers in the fourth round of the WNIT.
FALCONS VS. THE MAC
• The Falcons own the second-best record in MAC history. Heading into the EMU game, BGSU has an all-time record of 434-256 (.629) in MAC regular-season games, for the second-highest winning percentage of all league institutions. BG also has the second-most conference wins of all 12 programs.
• BGSU leads the all-time series with all 11 MAC foes, making the Falcons the only team in the league with a winning record against every other school. BG also has the most overall victories and highest overall winning pct. of any league institution.
WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE
• The 2022-23 Falcons have been quite successful at forcing turnovers by the opponents, while keeping their own turnover total to a relative minimum. BGSU has had fewer turnovers than the opponent in all 13 games this season to date, and the Falcons are second in the entire nation in turnover margin.
• BG has turned the ball over 17 times or fewer in each game, while forcing the opposition into at least 16 turnovers in every game. The Falcons have averaged 11.85 turnovers, while the foes have turned the ball over 21.85 times per game.
• BGSU committed just seven turnovers in the home opener against Wright State, tied for the fourth-lowest single-game total in school history, and the Falcons had just 10 turnovers in the win over Detroit Mercy, 11 at ETSU, nine against both IUPUI and UTRGV and eight vs. Findlay.
• Through 13 games, the Falcons have outscored the opponents, 299-131, in points off turnovers.
HAMPTON = DEFENSE
• Nyla Hampton had 86 steals last season, the fourth-highest total in BGSU history. She ranked second in the MAC and 17th in the nation in that category. With 2.69 steals per contest, Hampton finished third in the league and 23rd in the country.
• This season, Hampton has a team-high 43 steals through 13 games. She tied her career high with six steals in this year's opener at SBU and added five more against both Wright State and IUPUI. Hampton, who had at least three steals in a game 17 times last year, has had at least four steals in seven of this year's 13 games.
• Currently, she ranks 11th in the nation in steals per game (3.31) and 13th in the country in total steals.
• Hampton now has 185 steals in 69 career games played, an average of 2.68 per game. She has moved into 12th place on the BGSU career list for total steals.
• Hampton is on pace to set the school career records for both total steals and steals per contest.
MILLENNIUM FALCONS
• Three Falcons – Allison Day (1,265), Kadie Hempfling (1,247), and Payton Moore (1,122) – each have scored more than 1,000 points in their respective collegiate careers. Hempfling has scored all of her points in a BGSU uniform,while Day and Moore scored the bulk of their points at Loyola Univ. Chicago and Anderson Univ., respectively.
• Elissa Brett is looking to make that trio a quartet sometime in the next few weeks. The fourth-year Falcon enters the EMU game with a career total of 956 points, and currently ranks 32nd in BGSU history in career scoring.
SCORE MORE
• The Falcons are currently 12th in the nation in scoring offense. BGSU is averaging 82.8 points per game. The Falcons have topped the 90-point mark five times this season, and BG has scored at least 76 points in 10 of the first 13 games.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE EAGLES
• Eastern Michigan is 9-3 overall, and the Eagles are 1-0 in MAC play heading into Saturday's contest at the Stroh. Eastern has won three consecutive games, including a 68-67 home win over Miami in Wednesday's league opener.
• The teams had three common opponents – IUPUI, Southern Indiana and Wright State – in non-conference play. BGSU went 3-0 against that trio, while EMU went 2-1 with a narrow loss to USI.
• EMU has seven players averaging at least 7.7 points per game. Ce'Nara Skanes and Lachelle Austin lead the way with 13.5 and 13.0 ppg, respectively, and Skanes has a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game. Olivia Smith has 10.2 ppg and has hit a team-leading 23 three-point field goals.
• Head coach Fred Castro's club already has topped the win total for all of last season. Castro welcomed back eight players from a 2021-22 team that went 7-20 overall and 4-16 in the MAC.

• The Falcons lead Eastern Michigan, 54-20, in the all-time series, and the Falcons have captured the last three meetings. Last year's lone matchup saw BGSU pick up a 71-60 victory in Ypsilanti (Jan. 24, 2022). The teams last met at the Stroh early in the 2020-21 season (Dec. 11, 2020), with the Falcons taking a narrow 71-64 decision. Prior to BGSU's current three-game win streak, the Eagles had won five in a row in the series.
