Falcons Look for Strong Showing at Home
The men's squad heads into the Falcon Invite looking to prove themselves as the MAC Championship looms in just two weeks. The last time out saw plenty of positives among the new talent on the team with Anthony Sweet, Christian Gagliardi, Ben Myers, Micah Bentley, and Luke Woolard all setting personal records at the Louisville Classic on Sept. 30th. The team is in search for a quality performance this weekend with home course advantage at hand. The Falcon Invite will be the second time that Bowling Green has hosted competition this season. The Falcons hosted the Mel Brodt Open on Sept. 15th which served as a preview of what is to come at the MAC Championship later this month with a majority of MAC teams in attendance. The team enters the Falcon Invite looking to place higher after placing 5th at the Mel Brodt Open. That meet was highlighted by a strong early showing by Senior Heriberto Alvarez. The Illinois native led the Falcons in 5th place through the 3 mile mark but eventually fell to finish in 25th place. Alvarez was the first Falcon to cross the finish line at 25:59:59 and will look to have enough in the tank to have an even stronger performance this weekend.
Perry, Cubbison Lead Falcons into Invite at Home
Kailee Perry and Kylee Cubbison have been a dynamic duo for the Falcons so far this season. In the 2023 campaign, Perry and Cubbison have been the first two Falcons to cross the finish line at every meet this season. The two started off the season with Kailee Perry winning the Tommy Evans Invitational on Sept. 1st with Kylee Cubbison finishing right behind in 2nd place. The Falcons would go on to win the meet outright in convincing fashion.
The Falcons have also seen Regina Rose, Katerina Shuble, and Elise Johnson all place closely behind Perry and Cubbison. The women's squad returns to action after participating in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Sept. 30th. Last time out the women's squad saw the team place 26th collectively out of a 44-team field. Heading into this weekend, the Falcons look to return to the top of the field against familiar MAC opponents along with the other regional teams in attendance.
A Look at the Competition
The Falcons will face a field that will consist of several MAC opponents in addition to the out of conference teams that will be in attendance.
The men's squad will see a 10-team field with MAC opponents in Toledo and Buffalo in addition to the remaining out of conference opponents which will consist of Duquesne, Robert Morris, Hiram, Xavier, Wright State, Niagara, and Windsor.
The women's squad will face a 11-team field with MAC opponents such as Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, and Akron in attendance. Out of conference opponents that the Falcons will also see include Duquesne, Cleveland State, Hiram, Xavier, Wright State, Niagara, and Windsor.
