Falcons to Open Season at Zips Classic for Second Straight Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team is set to start their season this weekend at Akron's Zip Classic. At last year's meet, the Falcons finished second to their hosts at the University of Akron.
FALCONS' FINISH TO THE 2023 SEASON
Last season the Falcons finished 4-4 with wins over Butler, Ball State, and besting Marshall twice. The 2022-23 season was one of the Falcon's best at home in the Cooper Pool. The Orange and Brown opened the season with two wins at home against Butler and Ball State in dominant fashion. All before adding a win against Marshall a week later on Senior Night. The Falcons then glided to a 3-1 finish at home.
The Falcons concluded their MAC season placing 8th at MAC Championships. The Falcons had eight student-athletes compete in the finals of their respective events including returners, Elayna Krupp (50 and 100 Freestyle), Rayah Blood (1M and 3M Dives), Fabiana D'Ambrogio (200 Butterfly), Grace Bodrock (200 Butterfly), and Ava Vial (400 IM).
FEATURED FALCONS
For the second straight season at MAC Championships Ava Vial and Fabiana D'Ambrogio qualified for the finals of their respective events. For Vial it was the 400 IM where she swam to a time of 4:24.77 and a 13th place finish. As for D'Ambrogio she placed 16th in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.25.
The most impressive showings from the swimmers at last year's MAC Championships came from Grace Bodrock and Elayna Krupp. Bodrock, then a freshman, qualified for the finals in the 200 Butterfly placing 13th with a time of 2:03.49. Meanwhile, for Krupp she was the lone Falcon swimmer to compete in multiple finals. Krupp placed 15th in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle with times of 23.37 and 51.28.
Senior Diver Rayah Blood is coming off of her best year as a Falcon. Blood competed in both the 1M and 3M Dive finals at MAC Championships last year placing 8th and 10th in each event. Blood is also coming off of a season where she had 4 total event wins, two in each of the 1M and 3M Dives. These four wins were added on top of her 8 top 5 finishes in events. An even more impressive feat was scoring a personal best at the Miami Last Chance Meet with a score of 325.60 in the 3M Dive.
