GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University softball team came out on the short end of a tight battle Sunday morning (Feb. 19), as the University of Connecticut scored twice in the seventh inning for a 5-4, walk-off win. The game was the final contest for both teams at the T-Mobile Tournament at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Hannah Hunt, Wynnie Reid and Reagan Williamson each had a hit, with Reid also drawing a walk and scoring a run. Hunt's hit, a double, was BG's lone extra-base knock, and she droved a run and drove in a run.
For the Huskies (4-4), Aziah James, Rosie Garcia and Jana Sanden each had two hits. Garcia's two-run triple in the seventh gave UConn the walk-off win.

NOTE OF THE DAY
• Sophie Weber, as mentioned, had two hits in Sunday's game. Weber has had at least one hit in eight of the Falcons' nine games this season to date.
• Weber has had four multiple-hit games in the last six contests, including three in BG's four games in Gainesville. She batted .583 (7-for-12) on the weekend, scoring six runs in the four contests. Weber is hitting .444 on the season, with a .593 slugging percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Huskies took an early lead against BGSU pitcher Hannah Davies, scoring a run in the bottom of the first. Savannah Ring and Aziah James singled, and a two-out hit by Jana Sanden loaded the bases. A fly ball by Hope Jenkins enabled Ring to tag and score the game's first run, before Davies got an inning-ending popup.
• Davies set the Huskies down in order in the second, striking out two of the three batters she faced.
• Hope Jenkins, the UConn starter, faced just one batter over the minimum in the first two innings, as Sophie Weber reached on a first-inning error. In the third, however, the BG bats came to life.
• Wynnie Reid and Makailah Dees had back-to-back singles with one out. Then, with two down, Weber singled to right to score Reid and tie the game.
• And, in the fourth, the Falcons took the lead. Peyton Dolejs battled back from a 1-2 count to draw a walk. She fouled off five-straight pitches with the count at 1-2, and wound up trotting to first after an 11-pitch at-bat. A fly ball produced the second out, but Hannah Hunt took a strike, fouled off three consecutive pitches, then lined a ball to left for a double, with Dolejs coming all the way around to score.
• Reid walked, and Dees singled to score Hunt and five the Falcons a 3-1 lead.
• The Huskies cut that lead in half in the bottom of the fourth. Hope Jenkins drew a one-out walk and took second on a Rosie Garcia single. After a passed ball moved the runners to second and third, respectively, a base hit by Lexi Hastings scored pinch-runner Haley Coupal.
• A stolen base again put runners at second and third with just one out, but Davies induced the next batter to hit a foul pop to third before getting an inning-ending popup to second base.
• BG got that run right back against relief pitcher Delaney Nagy in the fifth. Weber and Reagan Williamson each singled to put runners at the corners, and a sac fly by Maycee Godbolt scored Weber to restore the Falcons' two-run lead.
• Davies worked around a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fifth, but the Huskies scored a run in the sixth. Hope Jenkins led off with a single, and Hastings drew a one-out walk. A walk to Lauren Benson loaded the bases, and a sac fly by Taylor Zatyk brought a runner home. Ring walked to load the bases once again, but Davies got James to hit a ground ball to second that ended the inning.
• Meghan O'Neil, UConn's third pitcher of the day, retired the side in order in the seventh, and the Huskies then rallied. Grace Jenkins and Sanden began the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles, and the runners moved up on a fly ball to center. Then, Garcia tripled to score both runners and give the Huskies the victory.
• O'Neil earned the win in relief, with two innings of one-hit, no-run work.
• Davies suffered the loss for the Falcons. She allowed 10 hits in her complete-game effort, striking out four batters and throwing 75 of her 139 total pitches for strikes.
