Falcon Pentathletes Outstanding in Akron on Friday

Bowling Green places three in top five, trio combines for four PRs
AKRON, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons concluded their first day at the Akron Invite, with pentathletes Destiny Fernandes, Jenna Lucas, and Katherine Mendenhall competing for the Orange and Brown. The trio represented Bowling Green well, with Lucas taking third (3,458), Mendenhall placing fourth (3,374), and Fernandes finishing fifth (3,328). Mendenhall's total score matches her PR, while Lucas notched the third-place finish in her collegiate pentathlon debut.

Lucas recorded PRs in the shot put and long jump, with Mendenhall also registering a PR in the shot put. Lucas finished first in the shot put, then Mendenhall closed the evening with a third-place finish in the 800. Fernandes notched a PR in the high jump, with Mendenhall matching her mark to tie for second place in the event. BGSU also had a pair of strong competitors in the discus, with Zaresha Neal placing second (168-11.00) and Reagan Emberton taking fourth (133-1.00).

- Jenna Lucas registered PRs in the shot put (41-4.75, 12.62m) and long jump (16.11.25, 5.16m) in her first pentathlon.
- Mendenhall matched her PR in the pentathlon (3,374) while recording a PR in the shot put (35-6.75, 10.84m).
- Destiny Fernandes recorded a PR for the second consecutive meet. After earning her PR in the 60 hurdles at Penn State, she notched a high jump PR tonight with a mark of 5-4.25 (1.63m).
