Track and Field Places Five on CSC Academic All-District Team

Braddix, Haintz, Hunter, Neal, and Shuble earn recognition for Falcons
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Five student-athletes from the Bowling Green State University Track and Field program have been named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Darian Braddix, Mateya Haintz, Jemeila Hunter, Zaresha Neal, and Katerina Shuble all collected honors for the Falcons. All five also received All-MAC honors during the 2023 season.
Bowling Green CSC Academic All-District Selections
Darian Braddix, Junior, Sport Management, 4.000 GPA
Darian Braddix earned first-team All-MAC honors during the indoor season and second-team All-MAC honors during the outdoor season, competing for a relay team each time. At the MAC Indoor Championship, she ran the second leg of the Distance Medley Relay, recording the second-best time in school history and helping the Falcons to the MAC title for the third consecutive season. At the MAC Outdoor Championship, she ran the opening leg of the 4x400 Relay, placing second with the third-best time in school history. Braddix was also an Academic All-MAC selection during the indoor season.
Mateya Haintz, Senior, Mathematics, 3.644 GPA
Mateya Haintz won her first career MAC title, finishing first in the hammer throw at the MAC Outdoor Championship. Her mark was a season-best 60.08m, putting fourth in the program's all-time rankings. She qualified for the NCAA East Regional for the second time in her career and first time as a Falcon, entering as the No. 32 seed and exceeding that spot with a 29th-place finish. During the indoor season, she placed fifth in the weight throw at the MAC Championship, adding to the BGSU point total as the Falcons finished third. Haintz was an Academic All-MAC selection during the indoor season.
Jemeila Hunter, Senior, Nursing, 3.632 GPA
Jemeila Hunter earned second-team All-MAC honors at the MAC Outdoor Championship, anchoring the 4x400 Relay team that placed second with the third-fastest time in school history. She also ran on the 4x100 Relay team that was fourth at the MAC Outdoor Championship, running the fifth-fastest time in school history. Hunter landed on the podium for the 200 at the Indoor and Outdoor Championships, placing sixth at the indoor meet and fifth at the outdoor meet. She ranks sixth in program history in the indoor 200 and indoor 400, while ranking second in the outdoor 200. She was also an Academic All-MAC selection.
Zaresha Neal, Senior, Master of Business Administration, 4.000 GPA
Zaresha Neal totaled three individual MAC titles and eight MAC Field Athlete of the Week honors during the 2022-23 season. She won the shot put at the MAC Indoor Championship, then won it again at the MAC Outdoor Championship. She also won the discus at the MAC Outdoor Championship, qualifying for the NCAA East Regional in both events. At regionals, she exceeded her No. 23 seed in the shot put, finishing 17th. She then exceeded her No. 20 seed in the discus, placing 10th and qualifying for the NCAA Championship for the third time in her career. She received the MAC Medal of Excellence and was named Academic All-MAC.
Katerina Shuble, Senior, Master of Architecture, 4.000 GPA
Katerina Shuble earned first-team and second-team All-MAC honors during the indoor season, anchoring the Distance Medley Relay team that ran the second-best time in school history and won the MAC title for the third consecutive season. She was also the runner-up in the mile, her highest individual finish at a MAC Championship. She ranks second in school history in the indoor mile and 3K, while ranking fifth in the indoor 800 and third in the outdoor 1500. Shuble earned Academic All-MAC honors for the indoor season, putting her at 10 career Academic All-MAC selections.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Those honorees will be announced in June.
