Haintz Ready for Bell Canadian Championships on Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University track and field standout Mateya Haintz is set to compete on Friday (July 28) at the Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships. The prestigious event will take place at McLeod Athletics Park in Langley, British Columbia.
Haintz, a native of Pitt Meadows, B.C., is scheduled to compete in the hammer throw on Friday night at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. Former Falcon Kaila Butler is also scheduled to compete in the event.
Haintz recorded the Falcons' seven best marks in the weight throw during the 2022-23 indoor season, earning a spot on the MAC Championship podium by finishing fifth at the league meet. During the outdoor season, she won the MAC championship in the hammer throw, with a mark of 197-1.00 (60.08m) that ranked her fourth in program history. She was named to the All-MAC First Team and also was an NCAA East Regional qualifier.
At the regional, she exceeded her No. 32 seed by finishing 29th. She was also named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
