BGSU v. Northern Illinois, A HistoryÂ
Bowling Green and Northern Illinois will be meeting for the 71st time in program history. While BGSU leads the all-time series, 39-31, NIU has the advantage when playing in DeKalb with a record of 17-12. The Falcons have won six of the last seven meetings, but the lone loss of the stretch came in the last meeting with NIU winning the only 2022-23 matchup with a score of 86-78, stopping BGSU from matching their longest win streak in series history.
Line Of LineupsÂ
This season the Falcons have utilized seven different starting lineups and have won with six of them. The seven different lineups are tied for the 12th-most in the nation, led by Furman's 13. However, the six winning lineups for BGSU are tied for fourth in the nation, just one behind a three-way tie between Eastern Michigan, Furman and Long Beach State with seven winning combinations. Marcus Hill and Jason Spurgin are the lone Falcons to start all 15 games this season with eight different players receiving at least three starts this year.
Hill Named To Lou Henson Watch ListÂ
Marcus Hill is one of three players from the Mid-American Conference and 40 players total to be named to the Lou Henson Award watch list. His 20.1 points per game is currently tied for 22nd in the nation while his 301 points total is tied for 29th.
Record Book WatchÂ
With 15 of BGSU's 31 regular season games completed, two Falcons are on track to contend for a spot in the single-season record book. Marcus Hill has logged 301 points so far for Bowling Green and will need 600+ to break into the Top 10 all-time for points in a single-season. Similarly, Jason Spurgin has logged 19 blocks for BGSU, needing 41+ to hit the Top 10 for blocks.Â
Agee Crashing The BoardsÂ
