Cubbison and Panning Help Women’s Cross Country To Fourth Place Finish At MAC Championships

FINAL RESULTS
MUNCIE, Ind. – A beautiful, 55-degree and sunny day with little wind at the new Ball State Cross Country Course culminated with a fourth-place finish (102 points) for the BGSU women's cross country team at the 2024 MAC Championships, matching their placement at last year's conference meet.
Toledo (32 points) won their fourth consecutive MAC title, while Ohio (82 points) and Eastern Michigan (92 points) followed to round out the top three.
"You like to see that consistency in terms of being in the top-tier of the conference," head coach Lou Snelling said. "I think we wanted a bit more, as second and third [place] weren't too far out of reach, but it's just an opportunity for us to learn."
The Falcons' top performer, Kylee Cubbison, finished in 11th (20:52.5) and earned Second Team All-MAC honors for the second consecutive season.
She continues to get better as we've gone through the season," Snelling said about Cubbison. "It's so hard to be All-MAC in back-to-back years, because it's so competitive. The fact she was able to do that I think really speaks to the position she's in."
Lexi Panning followed in 17th (21:17.0), earning her MAC Freshman of the Year. Panning is the third BG runner to receive this honor, joining Rachel Walny (2015) and teammate Kailee Perry (2020).
"She's had to weather some things, but she's just been gritty and has worked very hard," Snelling said about Panning. "She's a gamer, and every day she just does her thing. I'm really proud of her and excited for where this takes her in the future."
Two other runners finished in the top 30 from Bowling Green, as Regina Rose (21:23.2) came in 20th and Reese Reaman (21:43.1) ended in 27th.
Rachael Withrow (21:54.1) came in 31st and rounded out the scorers for the Falcons. Rachael Hoover (37th, 22:10.8), Madison Foster (58th, 22:39.9) and Amelia Barilla (66th, 22:48.7) were the other Bowling Green finishers.
