Falcons Set To Host Huskies For Final Regular Season Series In Slater

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio.- The Bowling Green Falcons (13-16-1, 11-8-1 CCHA) are set to host the Michigan Tech Huskies (12-13-6, 9-9-2 CCHA) this weekend for the final regular season home game. The series begins on Friday, February 23 and is set for 7:37 p.m. in Slater Family Ice Arena and will be Friends Night. The action will continue on Saturday, February 24 puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ohio. Saturday will serve as BG City Schools Night, 80s Night, Senior Day, and the 1984 National Championship Reunion. Post-game there will be an autograph session with the 1984 team.

This will be the second meeting of the two this season, the first being Friday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec 2 in Houghton, Michigan. The two teams split the weekend, the Falcons winning in overtime on Friday and the Huskies taking the second game. Bowling Green climbed the CCHA standings this past weekend when they went into shootouts with St. Thomas on Friday securing two points. On Saturday the Falcons left Mendota Heights with a 3-1 win and five points on the weekend. The Falcons are currently tied for second with St. Thomas and Michigan Tech with 35 points while Bemidji State leads with 37. Michigan Tech is coming off a bye weekend, while the prior weekend they split the series with conference member Minnesota State.

Ryan O'Hara leads the Falcons point production with 18 points through 26 games (10g, 8a). Spencer Kersten (8g, 7a) and Josh Nodler (5g, 10a) are tied at second with 15 points each. Nodler leads the Falcons in assist.
Seth Fyten and Gustav Stjernberg both record a +6 ranking on the season.
The Falcons have recorded 18 power-play goals throughout the season, Seth Fyten leads with three on the season.
Bowling Green records a .530 faceoff win percentag, ranking 13th in the NCAA and leading the CCHA. Josh Nodler (254) ranks 10th in the CCHA, Spencer Kersten at 17th (200) and Jaden Grant at 18th (185).

Cole Moore was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week, on Monday (Feb. 19) while Ben Doran was named Rookie of the Week. Moore received his third CCHA Player of the Week nod while Doran saw his first.
The Falcons have seen success in February starting with a sweep at Ferris State and a sweep at home in Slater Family Ice Arena against Lake Superior State. Recently the Falcons captured five out of six CCHA points this past weekend, winning in a shootout on Friday and winning by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.

Opponent Outlook
Michigan Tech holds a 12-13-6 overall record on the season and a 9-9-2 conference. The Huskies record a 7-6-3 record at home and 4-7-2 on the road. Michigan Tech has two sweeps on the season while Falcons have seen three on the season.

Issac Gordon and Ryland Mosley lead the Huskies in goals with 14 a piece while Chase Pietila records 17 assist. Overall Gordon leads in points with 26 and Mosley close behind with 23. Goaltender Blake Pietila records a .914 save percentage and 2.54 goals against average on through 28 games played on the season. Pietila leads the CCHA in goals against average and saves per game and was recently named CCHA Student-Athlete of the Year.

Series Info
The all-time series between Bowling Green and Michigan Tech is 23-23-5. In the most recent matchup between the two CCHA members, the Falcons and Huskies split the weekend in Michigan. The first matchup between the two was November of 1972, where the Huskies swept the series.

"To sit back and see how it has evolved over time… this team, we felt in the beginning of the year was going to be a good team. The Coaches and the media picked us to finish third and obviously we went through things early, but we have gotten past that and the reason we have gotten past it because the character of the people that are in that locker room… the players deserve all the credit they have come to the rink everyday consistently with the right attitude. They genuinely care about each other and genuinely want the other guy to succeed, it's a we vs. me type of deal."
