Falcons Near MAC Tournament Berth; Host RedHawks Tuesday Night

BGSU, Miami (OH) Set For 7 p.m. Tip
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will continue their homestand Tuesday night (Feb. 27) by hosting the Miami (OH) RedHawks. The game between the Falcons and RedHawks is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip inside the Stroh Center. The game is set to be aired on ESPN+ with a radio stream available through WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
The Falcons and RedHawks will be playing for the 152nd time in program history and second time this season. Miami (OH) holds the all-time advantage with a record of 90-60, but BGSU is 40-32 when hosting the RedHawks. The first meeting this year between the teams went to Bowling Green on Jan. 16 by a score of 78-73. The Falcons can clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2020-21 with a win and a Ball State loss.

Anderson Mirambeaux leads the RedHawks, averaging 13.1 points per game. Darweshi Hunter follows closely with a mark of 12.0 points per game while maintaining a mark of 82.1% from the free throw line.Â

Bowling Green won the first meeting and holds the advantage when hosting the series with a record of 40-32. In the first game against the RedHawks, The Falcons were paced by Marcus Hill's 23 points. Rashaun Agee added a double-double to the effort with 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Trey Thomas tallied 14 for the Falcons while Jason Spurgin added 10 points and nine rebounds.
MAC Tournament WatchÂ
The Falcons are currently attempting to clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 season. Bowling Green needs a win and a Ball State loss to officially punch their ticket to Cleveland. Akron, Toledo, Central Michigan and Ohio have clinched spots already. The Orange and Brown missed a spot in the MAC Tournament each of the last two seasons, finishing both seasons in ninth with eight teams advancing to Cleveland.Â

Marcus Hill's 31 points against Toledo awarded him his fourth MAC Player of the Week recognition on Monday (Feb. 26). This year, Marcus Hill has registered 582 points for the Falcons, needing 18 more to break into the Top 10 all-time for points in a season. He needs 600 to enter a three-way tie for ninth all-time, 601 for eighth and 604 for seventh. He's also moved up to fifth in the nation for field goal attempts with 469.
Agee Nearing Record Book NumbersÂ
Rashaun Agee is nearing the Top 10 in the record book for single-season rebounds. So far this season, Agee has tallied 257 rebounds for the Falcons and needs 42 more to enter the record book. He needs to reach 299 to break into the Top 10 all-time for rebounds in a single-season, trailing Rex Leach's 1956-57 campaign. This year, Agee has 13 double-doubles, tied for 18th in the nation. His 9.5 rebounds per game are also tied for 30th in the country and his 3.56 offensive rebounds are 19th.
Spurgin Eyes 1,000-Point ClubÂ
Jason Spurgin is closing in on reaching 1,000 career points, currently with 954. Spurgin needs just 46 to join the club and is currently averaging 10.4 points per game with six games left in the regular season. With Bowling Green, Spurgin has tallied 282 points this season. Before BGSU, he recorded 672 points over three seasons with Southern Utah.Â
