Falcons To Host Lake Superior State This Weekend

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio.- The Bowling Green Falcons (10-16-0, 8-8-0 CCHA) are set to host the Lake Superior State Lakers (12-14-1, 9-9-0 CCHA) this weekend. The series begins on Friday, February 9 in Slater Family Ice Arena, puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. The action will continue on Saturday, February 10 and is set for 7:07 p.m. in Bowling Green. This game will serve as the SICSIC unveiling and the Falcon Hockey team will be signing autographs post-game. This will be the second meeting of the two this season, the first being Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov 18 in Taffy Abel Arena where the two split the weekend. Bowling Green is coming off a sweep against conference member, Ferris State while Lake Superior State is coming off a split weekend at Michigan Tech. Â

In the most recent matchup between the two CCHA members, the Falcons and Lakers split the series. The Falcons took the first game in a 5-3 win, in Slater Family Ice Arena. While the Lakers decided game two in a 4-3 OT win. The first matchup between the two was December of 1970 , where Laker Superior State swept the series.

- Ryan O'Hara leads the Falcons production with 18 points (10g,8a). Brody Waters and Josh Nodler being close behind with 13 points. Waters tallies six goals and seven assist on the season and Nodler has four goals and nine assist. Spencer Kersten tallies 12 points on the season with eight goals and four assist.
- The Falcons have recorded 14 power-play goals throughout the season and Brody Waters, Josh Nodler, Gustav Stjernberg, Dalton Norris, Spencer Kersten and Seth Fyten have all recorded two a piece.
- Bowling Green records a .538 faceoff win percentage and ranking 12th in the NCAA and ranking first in the CCHA.
- The Falcons penalty kill unit ranks 20th in the NCAA and second in the CCHA, recording a .828 percentage (17/99).

The Lakers have swept twice on the season, both being against CCHA opponents. The first being against Bemidji State in November and recently against Northern Michigan, in January. Both Falcons and Lakers are looking for their third split on the season.

Ethan Langenegger records a .910 save percentage and 2.79 goals allowed average through 24 out of 27 games for the Lakers.
