Falcons Close Book on 2023-24 Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green swimming and diving team ended their season this weekend. The diving team had four divers compete in diving zones over the weekend while the swimming team had ten swimmers compete at National Invite Championships
Delving into Zones
Divers Rayah Blood, Grace Ellis, Evie Long and Natalia Mayorga competed at NCAA Diving Zones this weekend. Mayorga and Blood competed in both 1-Meter and 3-Meter zones with Ellis and Long only competing in the 1-Meter.
In Blood's third appearance at zones, she was the highest finishing Falcon in the 3-Meter zone. Blood placed 42nd with a score of 223.65 in the event with fellow Falcon Mayorga placing 46th in her first appearance.
Mayorga had a better showing in the 1-Meter where she placed 27th missing finals by only 17 points with a score of 232.95. Right behind her was Blood with a score of 231.70. Senior Grace Ellis placed 42nd with a score of 216.35 and Sophomore Evie Long placed 53rd with a score of 194.25.
Standout Swimmers
Falcon swimmers Joanna Robertson, Elayna Krupp, Grace Bodrock, Emily McNicol, Blanca Sanz, Maddie Bond, Morgan Sokol, Riley McNichols, Ava Vial, and Alex Johnson all competed at National Invite Championships.
The Falcons were highlighted by their relay teams at the meet. On Thursday the 200 Freestyle Relay placed 27th beating their seed by 11 places. Then on Saturday the 400 Free team continued the success dropping two seconds from their seed time.
Individually the Falcons were led by Emily McNicol, Ava Vial, and Grace Bodrock in finals. McNicol was the highest finishing Falcon of the weekend meet placing 15th in the 50 Backstroke. McNicol placement beat her seed by two places thanks to a time of 25.64. Just like at MAC Championships Bodrock saw herself in the championship final of the 200 Butterfly. Thanks to a time of 2:03.02 Bodrock was able to push herself six places above her seed. Vial also got in on the action in the 200 Butterfly. Vial placed 19th in the event finishing seven spots ahead of her seed with a time of 2:03.79
