Falcons Host Home Debut with Mel Brodt Collegiate Open
September 12, 2025 | General, Women's Cross Country
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's cross country team opened its home slate Friday at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open, placing second to Toledo with 34 points to the Rockets' 21.
Kylee Cubbison led the Falcons with a runner-up finish in 21:18.9, outpacing Toledo's Lillian Dicola over the final two miles.
"She had a really nice opener," head coach Lou Snelling said. "She's continuing a lot of the momentum from the spring. That time, on this course, in these conditions, that's pretty legitimate stuff. Especially for her first race of the year. I'm proud of that effort."
Lexi Panning (21:46.2) and Regina Rose (21:47.1) followed in sixth and seventh, while Reese Reaman (22:13.8) and Rachael Hoover (22:23.5) rounded out the Falcons' top five in ninth and 10th. Emma Hellwege placed 12th (22:45.1) and Amelia Barilla finished 14th (23:24.7). Nora Ritting added a 17th-place mark of 24:01, and Claire Valenza closed out the lineup in 18th at 27:56.6.
"It was really about effort today and what we put out there focus-wise," Snelling said. "Were we able to stay dialed in, particularly when things got quiet on the back end of the course? Did we compete over the last 2K? We weren't too focused on results time-wise. Effort was the main focus for us."
Bowling Green will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 3.
