Chanticleers will come to the Stroh on Saturday, Feb. 7
CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Communications) – The pairings for the next round of the 2025-26 Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Women's Basketball Challenge have been announced, and Bowling Green State University will welcome Coastal Carolina University to the Stroh Center on Saturday, Feb. 7. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
Head coach Fred Chmiel and the Falcons are 3-2 in MAC-Sun Belt Challenge games, and BGSU has won the last three such contests. The Orange and Brown opened the 2025-26 regular-season schedule with an 82-67 win at Louisiana (Nov. 3). BGSU downed Southern Miss at home and Arkansas State on the road in last year's meetings with Sun Belt Conference foes.
Next month's game will be the Falcons' first meeting with Coastal Carolina in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. Overall, the teams have met once previously, with the host Chanticleers pulling out an 81-80 victory in the Coastal Carolina Tournament (Nov. 23, 2018). Four Falcons fouled out in that game.
The 2025-26 Falcons are 8-6 overall and 1-2 in MAC play, heading into a Saturday (Jan. 10) game at Northern Illinois.
The Chanticleers are 7-9 overall and 0-4 in SBC action this season, heading into Wednesday night's (Jan. 7) game at Appalachian State. The team's four conference losses have come by a total of 20 points, including a three-point loss to preseason league favorite James Madison and a two-point overtime setback vs. Marshall.
The Chants were picked to finish sixth in the Sun Belt, according to the preseason coaches poll. Last year, CCU won 23 games, finished fourth in the conference and advanced to the league tourney semifinals for the first time ever.
BGSU has an all-time record of 17-6 vs. SBC schools. A total of 15 of those 23 contests came against Marshall, a former member of the MAC.
