BGSU, UMass Scheduled For 2 p.m. Tip Saturday; Senior Day Festivities To Take Place Pregame
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will conclude the home portion of the 2025-26 regular season schedule on Saturday (Feb. 28), hosting the UMass Minutemen. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tip inside the Stroh Center with Senior Day preceding the game. The Falcons and Minutemen will be meeting for the second time this season with this marking the first trip to BGSU for UMass all-time. With a win, the Falcons would clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ while Todd Walker will have the radio call on WFRO Eagle 99.
Opening Tip
Bowling Green and UMass will be meeting for just the second time in program history with both games being this season. The Falcons won the first meeting between the two earlier this year, capturing a 101-100 victory in overtime on Jan. 3 over the Minutemen. BGSU enters the game with two games left in the regular season and a magic number of two for clinching a spot in the MAC Tournament. A win for the Falcons would check off both boxes and punch Bowling Green's ticket to the tournament. In the first meeting between the two teams, Javontae Campbell registered a career-high 47 points, tied for fifth in program history for single-game points.

Cleveland, This Is For You
The Falcons have two games left in their MAC schedule, including a bye due to the unbalanced MAC field this season, leaving their magic number at two. However, the Falcons can punch their ticket to Cleveland and the MAC Tournament with a win over UMass on Saturday (Feb. 28). Seeding would still be undetermined, but a win would secure BGSU's spot in the top eight as well as in the conference tournament field at Rocket Arena.

Scouting The Minutemen
Since the last meeting between BGSU and UMass, the Minutemen have posted a record of 6-8, but they've hit hard times of late. UMass has lost five straight games with their last win being on Feb. 3 with a 95-89 win over Central Michigan at home. As for their last road win, that came on Jan. 23 with a 68-67 win at Buffalo. In total, UMass is 2-7 when playing on the road this year, including a 2-6 road record against MAC opponents, with their other road win being an 85-82 final over Western Michigan.
BGSU vs. UMass, All-Time
Bowling Green and UMass will be meeting for just the second time in program history with the first meeting being earlier this season. Playing for the first time on Jan. 3, the Falcons came away with a victory in a 101-100 overtime thriller. For the Falcons, Javontae Campbell led the way with 47 points, including going 20-of-27 from the free throw line. Mayar Wol added 21 points while Javon Ruffin and Josiah Shackelford each tallied 10. As for UMass, they were led by Leonardo Bettiol with 32 points and 14 rebounds.
Campbell Closing In On History
With two games to go in the regular season and the postseason left to be decided, Javontae Campbell has a chance to do something that only Antonio Daniels can claim to have done for BGSU. Campbell is currently 60 points and two assists shy of entering the top 10 for each stat's single-season records in program history. Currently, Antonio Daniels is the only player in the top 10 for both, second with 767 points and third with 216 assists from the 1996-97 season. To hit the marks in the regular season, Campbell needs to average 30.0 points and an assist per game, but all postseason stats would count as well.
From Down-Towns
Against Western Michigan, Sam Towns sank a career-high five three-pointers, becoming the fourth different Falcon this season to make five threes in a game. Towns joined Javon Ruffin, Josiah Shackelford and Mayar Wol in the feat. Like Towns, Shackelford has done so once, coming against Siena Heights. Ruffin did so against both Bucknell and Kansas State while Wol has hit five threes a team-high three times, coming against VMI, Akron and Eastern Michigan with the Akron and EMU games being back-to-back.
Simon Eyeing Elite Program Company
Now in his third season at the helm of the Falcons, head coach Todd Simon has tallied 50 wins with the Orange and Brown, becoming the second-fastest coach to 50 wins in program history, needing 92 games, behind only Harold Anderson (59 games). Now, Simon is a win away from becoming the first BGSU head coach to register 51+ wins in his first three seasons during the program's MAC Era. Dan Dakich previously held the mark with 50 wins over his first three seasons. Harold Anderson was the last coach to start his tenure pre-MAC at Bowling Green with the Falcons joining the MAC in 1953-54, Anderon's fourth season at the helm of the Orange and Brown.
One Record Down, One To Go
Through 29 games, Javontae Campbell is averaging 3.1 steals per game with 91 total for the season, leading the nation in both stats. With 91 steals, Campbell has already broke his own single-season program record that he set last year. As for the MAC record, Campbell is within range with two regular season games remaining and any postseason games counting towards the mark. The MAC record is set at 103 by Ball State's Bonzi Wells in 1997-98. For those looking to follow Campbell's projections, Falcon Sports Media Network's Tyler Kavalecz is doing a game-by-game update on his Twitter/X page (@TKavaleczSports).
Glover Nearing Record Book Entry
Troy Glover II has been strong in the paint defensively for the Falcons, logging at least one block in 12 of the last 15 games for Bowling Green, including 12 over a three-game stretch from Feb. 11-17. The surge for Glover has not only pushed him up the MAC leaderboards, now third only CMU's Nathan Claerbaut and EMU's Godslove Nwabude, but also has him on the brink of the BGSU record book. Glover is now just one block away from entering BGSU's top 10 for single-season blocks, trailing Ed Colbert's 1990-91 campaign. Glover is currently on pace to finish the regular season with 46 blocks, which would tie for ninth in program history, but all postseason stats would count as well.
Javontae One Of Five In The Nation
Javontae Campbell is one of five players in the nation currently to rank inside the top 50 for both total points and total assists with 540 (47th) and 148 (44th), respectively. Campbell is joined on the list by Arkansas' Darius Acuff Jr. (621 Points - 6th, 174 Assists - 21st), South Alabama's Chaze Harris (564 Points - 27th, 146 Assists - 47th), Akron's Tavari Johnson (577 Points - 20th, 146 Assists - 47th) and Mercer's Baracka Okojie (571 Points - 23rd, 153 Assists - 36th). Campbell is the only of the five with 50+ steals this season, currently with a nation-leading 91.

- Mark the 51st win for Coach Simon at the helm of the Falcons, giving him the most wins by a BGSU coach in their first three seasons during the program's MAC Era.
- Sweep the season series against UMass and start the all-time series with a 2-0 record.
- Grant Bowling Green 10 home wins this season, marking double-digit wins at home in two of the last three seasons.
- Give the Falcons 1,497 wins in program history, drawing close to the 1,500-win milestone.
At The Game
- The Falcons will be holding this season's Senior Day before the game. Men's Hoops will be recognizing a handful of seniors prior to the game while Spirit will recognize their seniors at halftime.
