Falcons Win Gold in DMR at MAC Championship Day One

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - After the first day of the Indoor Track and Field Championships, Bowling Green saw a great amount of success. The Falcons won two events and qualified for six finals.
FIELD EVENTS
The Falcons started the day in the field, where Jenna Lucas earned an event win in the pent shot put by throwing a 13.78m. Lucas also finished fifth on the podium in the pent high jump, reaching a season best 1.65m.
During the weight throw, Grace Bradtmueller landed in the 11th spot after throwing a personal best 17.21m.
In the long jump, Kiera Bonds provided the Falcons with key points, placing second and jumping to a personal best 6.04m.Â
TRACK EVENTS
On the track, the Falcons won the DMR while also qualifying for six finals.Â
Morgan Patterson finished second in the prelims for the 60m hurdles. She qualified for the finals and finished the event in 8.52 seconds.
During the Women's 400m prelims, Reagan Campbell qualified with a fourth place 56.66-second time.Â
Kiersten Franklin claimed victory in the 60m prelims, finishing first at 7.44, a personal best.
Franklin also won the 200m prelims, pacing to a new school record. Her time 24.08 time is .10 seconds faster than former record holder Jeannette Pettigrew's 24.18 200m in 2014.
Kiera Bonds also qualified during the 60m prelims, finishing fourth with a personal best 7.56 seconds.
In the 800M prelims, Rachael Hoover qualified for finals, finishing fourth with a time of 2:12.12.
The Women's DMR was a hard-earned victory for the Falcons. They trailed Toledo's runners until the last lap, when Kylee Cubbison overtook the Rockets to claim gold for the Falcons. Cubbison, who was joined by Reese Reaman, Tyyetta Herman and Marissa Boone, claimed a MAC Championship with a season-best time of 11:24.61. This DMR win was the fifth time in six years BGSU has won gold in this event. Their finish ranks third all-time in the BGSU record books.
Lexi Panning had an impressive outing in the 5000m as she finished with a personal best time of 16:35.33, which is a significant 28.38 seconds faster than her previous personal best.
Heading into day two, Bowling Green currently sits third overall with 23 points, as they look to win back-to-back MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.Â
