Kent State held leads of 21-18 after one quarter and 34-27 at the half. BGSU scored the first six points of the third period, with Donahue hitting two free throws, then converting a reverse layup. When Kendal Moxey grabbed an offensive rebound and laid the ball back up and in, the Falcons were within a single point, 34-33.
But, Babbitt answered with a driving layup, then hit a three-pointer to put the hosts back up by six. And, Emory Klatt scored four-straight points to make it a 10-point game with three minutes left in the quarter.
It was still a 10-point margin heading to the fourth period, but a 6-2 start to the period was capped by a Dionna Gray three-pointer that gave the hosts a 14-point lead, the largest of the game. BGSU cut the deficit to single digits when a Moxey steal led to a Kohler three-pointer. But, leading by a 61-53 score, the Flashes would make four free throws over the next few minutes to surge ahead by 12.
The Falcons got within seven points on a pair of Kohler free throws in the final minute, before two KSU charity tosses provided the final margin.
