2010-2011 (sophomore): Played in 30 games...recorded his first point of the season with an assist against Alaska-Fairbanks (Oct. 29)…scored his first goal of the season against Notre Dame (Nov. 5)…finished with three points on the season (2g, 1a), scoring his final tally against Lake Superior (Jan. 29)…suffered a season-ending concussion against Northern Michigan (Feb. 19), missing the final seven games of the season…had an on-ice rating of even or better in 19 games…finished with a (-6) on-ice rating on the year…blocked 19 shots.

2009-10 (freshman): Was one of the Falcons’ best freshman defenseman…played in 33 games…scored his first goal when poking home a loose puck at Notre Dame (Nov. 28)…posted an assist in consecutive games against Clarkson (Jan. 3) at the Dodge Holiday Classic (Minneapolis, Minn.) and at Ohio State (Jan. 8)…scored a power-play goal against Miami (Feb. 13) on a hard slap shot near the blue line…posted the second most blocks on the team (58)…finished the season with a plus/minus mark of (-7)…had 25 penalties for 50 minutes.

Prior to BGSU: Played in 52 games for Omaha in the USHL in 2008-09…had 148 penalty minutes while scoring nine points (2g, 7a)…one of his two goals scored was a game-winning goal.

Personal: Full name is Ian Christopher Ruel…born on January 31, 1990…son of Brian and Laurie Ruel…has one brother, Gabe…grandfather won a National Championship as a part of the 1954 Holy Cross basketball team…majoring in business.
