2016-17 (Junior): Played in 34 of the Falcons 41 games this season, accruing 2069:23 minutes in goal … named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 27 after marking a season-high 71 save weekend to shutout Alabama Huntsville in the final weekend of the regular season … after the same performance, was honored as NCAA Hockey’s First Star of the Week … was also named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week again on March 14 after earning a 70 saves in addition to a .946 save percentage in the WCHA Semifinals at Bemidji State … on the season, totaled a 803 saves on the year, a team-leading 2.15 goals against average, and a save percentage of .916 … with a 3-0 shutout of RIT (Dec. 30), set the Bowling Green program record in career shutouts with the 10th of his career … after a third consecutive shutout, Nell set the record for the Bowling Green shutout minutes at 220:18, shattering the former record of 154:43 … tops the Bowling Green record book in career shutouts (11), save percentage (.922) and goals against average (2.07) … held a record of 17-14-2 on the season, with four shutouts and a career-high mark of 45 saves at Bemidji State in a 4-3 overtime win in the WCHA Semifinals (March 10).

2015-16 (Sophomore): Earned the team’s Jim Ruehl Best Defensive Player Award and the Jim Sears Most Valuable Player Award … First Team All-WCHA after posting one of the best seasons in program history for a goalie … WCHA All-Academic … Ranked ninth in the nation in goals against average, setting a program record at 1.91 goals allowed per game … Also set the program record for save percentage at .930, ranking 10^th in the country … Finished the year at 18-11-6 and had four shutouts, the most in a single-season in program history … Played in 18 games during a school-record streak that saw the Falcons hold opponents to three goals or less in 21 straight games … Set a career-high with 45 saves against Miami Feb. 12 … Made 25 saves in his first start of the year, a 2-0 shutout of Ohio State … Also had 25 saves in a 2-0 shutout at Alaska Anchorage … Earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Bemidji State with 28 saves … In 5-0 shutout of Alabama Huntsville to close the regular season, had 24 saves … Made 35+ saves in the team’s two WCHA Tournament wins, 7-2 and 3-1 victories over Bemidji State … Named a Mike Richter Award nominee and WCHA Defensive Player of the Week Dec. 14 … Added two assists on the season.
