2016-17 (Junior): Played in 34 of the Falcons 41 games this season, accruing 2069:23 minutes in goal … named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 27 after marking a season-high 71 save weekend to shutout Alabama Huntsville in the final weekend of the regular season … after the same performance, was honored as NCAA Hockey’s First Star of the Week … was also named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week again on March 14 after earning a 70 saves in addition to a .946 save percentage in the WCHA Semifinals at Bemidji State … on the season, totaled a 803 saves on the year, a team-leading 2.15 goals against average, and a save percentage of .916 … with a 3-0 shutout of RIT (Dec. 30), set the Bowling Green program record in career shutouts with the 10th of his career … after a third consecutive shutout, Nell set the record for the Bowling Green shutout minutes at 220:18, shattering the former record of 154:43 … tops the Bowling Green record book in career shutouts (11), save percentage (.922) and goals against average (2.07) … held a record of 17-14-2 on the season, with four shutouts and a career-high mark of 45 saves at Bemidji State in a 4-3 overtime win in the WCHA Semifinals (March 10).
