2015-16
Named to the Academic All-MAC Team ... picked up her first singles win of the 2015-16 season at the Chicago State Invitational (Sept. 11-13) defeating Julie Martin of Bradley, 3-6, 7-6(6), 10-6 … was in the lineup for all 21 matches … teamed with Paula Comella and the tandem earned MAC Doubles Team of the Week (April 28) … the duo suffered only one loss in conference play, finishing the season with a 4-1 record in the MAC ... that duo went 20-6 overall ... finished her college career with 27 singles wins, 49 doubles victories and 76 combined wins.
2014-15
Was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, in March of 2015 ... missed nearly all of the season due to injury ... played in two doubles matches with Brittany Plaszewski at the Miami Invitational on the season's opening weekend (Sept. 12-13).
2013-14
Named an ITA Scholar Athlete for the second time in as many seasons at BGSU ... an Academic All-MAC Team honorable-mention selection ... moved into the lineup in both singles and doubles in her sophomore campaign ... had a total of 24 wins on the year ... split time between the fourth and fifth singles flights during the dual-match portion of the season, playing nine matches at the fourth level and eight at the fifth ... in doubles, was one-half of the Falcons' number-one-flighted team, competing with senior Emily Reuland for 16 matches at that top flight ... the Fillis/Reuland duo went 1-0 at the second flight, and Fillis teamed with fellow soph Katie Brozovich for one match (a win) in the spring ... had 11 wins during the fall, the fourth-highest total on the team ... reeled off four-straight singles wins in November, including victories over players from Marquette and Notre Dame at the WMU Super Challenge ... teamed with senior Nikki Chiricosta to win two of three matches at the top doubles flight at the BGSU Invitational ... ran off three-straight wins with Reuland from Nov. 1-8, losing just five total games during that stretch ... on the year, was 10-13 in doubles when competing with Reuland, while going 2-1 with Chiricosta and 1-0 with Brozovich ... had a team-best four overall victories at the UC Invitational.
2012-13
Was named an ITA Scholar Athlete ... had an overall record of 25-11, good for a winning percentage of .694, in her first season as a Falcon ... helped BGSU win a school-record 17 matches and post the best conference regular-season and tournament finishes in program history ... her 16-5 doubles mark (.762) included an 8-1 ledger when teaming up with fellow freshman Katie Brozovich ... that duo won eight-straight matches after losing their first contest by a narrow 8-6 count ... the Brozovich/Fillis duo lost two or fewer games in five of those eight wins ... was 7-3 when playing with senior Jade Johnson, and had a 1-1 mark with Mary Hill as her partner ... was 9-6 in singles on the season ... won five of her last six singles matches of the year, and won her final 10 doubles matches of the season ... did not lose a doubles match after January 12 ... posted a 10-5 overall record in her first semester on campus, going 4-2 in singles and 6-3 in doubles play ... teamed up with Johnson for seven of her nine fall doubles matches, going 5-2 ... won a back-draw final at the WMU Super Challenge ... after losing her first-round match in a tiebreaker against an opponent from Iowa State, bounced back for victories vs. foes from Penn State and host Western Michigan ... in that PSU match, lost just one total game against the Nittany Lions' Emily Rivers ... similarly, teamed with Johnson for a consolation final win in doubles ... that duo lost, 8-6, to a DePaul team, before beating opponents from WMU and Iowa State by identical 8-5 scores ... went 3-2 in her first weekend of collegiate competition, at the BGSU Invitational ... won her first singles match in a tiebreaker before losing in the semifinals ... she and Johnson picked up a pair of wins over teams from Cincinnati and Miami, before falling by an 8-6 outcome in the championship ... the victory over the UC team, which came by an 8-4 score, was her first collegiate match.
HIGH SCHOOL
A four-year letterwinner at Ottawa Hills H.S., also the alma mater of former BGSU coach Penny Dean ... had an overall record of 90-15 for the Green Bears of coach Jeff Harst, who compete as an independent in girls tennis ... named to the all-district team four times ... was a four-time sectional champion, a two-time district champ and a four-time state qualifier ... made it to the round of 16 in each of her four years ... in addition to district championships in both 2008 and '11, had a runner-up finish in 2009 and placed third in '10 ... three-year team captain ... made the honor roll all four years ... also received honors diploma, national award of merit and the President's Award for education ... was ranked second in the state of Ohio, 16th in the Great Lakes region and 196th in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net as of summer 2012.
PERSONAL
Drew Madison Fillis was born on May 25, 1994, in Toledo, Ohio ... an athletic training major at BGSU ... graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.594 ... daughter of Andy Fillis and Diane Larson ... was a member of BGSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board in 2013-14, serving as that organization's Vice President/Career Development ... mother is a BGSU alumna as well as a television news anchor at WTVG, Toledo's ABC affiliate.
