ACHTER AND THE FALCONS:
Since arriving on BGSU[apos]s campus, Achter and the Falcons have experienced win after win after win after win and with a win at Central Michigan (Feb. 13) she and her fellow senior, Whitney Taylor, joined an elite group of both Bowling Green and Mid-American Conference players in winning 100 games in their collegiate careers ... only six other women[apos]s groups and one men[apos]s class have accomplished the feat ... she is also a member of the only active senior class in the MAC to win at least one NCAA Tournament game and have less than 25 loses in their collegiate career ... as a junior, she was a starter on the MAC[apos]s most historic women[apos]s basketball team ... not only did that team advance to the Sweet Sixteen, but they also won 31 games; the most of any men[apos]s or women[apos]s MAC affiliate in conference history ... the only player in program history to score at least 1,450+ points and record 600+ assists ... has been named to the MAC[apos]s All-Tournament Team in each of her first three conference championship seasons ... named MAC Tournament MVP as a freshman ... numerous MAC Player of the Week honors ... averaged 27 wins per season and never saw her basketball calendar end before March 19 of any given year while with BGSU ... will graduate with a 108-23 overall record.

The MVP of the Kraft MAC Tournament after helping the Falcons to the title ... earned the team[apos]s Playmaker of the Year award ... replaced a four-year starter and all-league performer (Lindsay Austin) at the point-guard position, and the Falcons did not miss a beat ... in the Kraft MAC Tournament, posted team-high averages of 18.0 points and 5.8 assists during the Falcons[apos] three wins ... was named to the all-tournament team as well as the MAC[apos]s All-Freshman Team, and was runner-up for the MAC Freshman-of-the-Year award ... played in all 31 games on the season ... started 24 games, including each of the last 23, and the Falcons went 20-4 in those games ... on the year, averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 boards to rank fourth on the team in each category ... led the team with 4.0 assists per game ... showed an ability to get to the line and convert, as she also led BG in free throws made (121) and attempted (156) and free-throw percentage (.776) ... ranked second in the MAC in FTM and fourth in FTA ... her total of 121 FTM was nearly double the total of the next MAC freshman (62) ... ranked 20th in the MAC in scoring ... finished third in the league in assists, fifth in assist/turnover ratio and 12th in FT pct., leading all MAC freshmen in each of those three categories ... in MAC games only, was ranked 24th in scoring, tied for 11th in assists, placed 13th in assist/TO ratio and was 14th in FT pct. ... was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in her Anderson Arena debut, scoring 23 points in a win over Youngstown State ... had 27 points in the win over Marshall, going 13-for-14 at the free-throw line ... went 11-for-11 from the stripe in the league tourney championship game, en route to a 21-point performance vs. Kent State ... was a perfect 20-for-20 at the free-throw line in the conference tournament, shattering the tourney record (the old mark of 13-for-13 was shared by three people, including former Falcon Francine Miller in 2001) ... hit double digits in scoring 16 times, including in each of the last seven games ... averaged 15.9 points during that seven-game span, in which the Falcons clinched the MAC[apos]s regular-season title and won the league tourney ... became only the second freshman in MAC history to be named MVP of the league tourney ... led the team in scoring in six games on the year ... her total of 124 assists set a BGSU freshman record, while her 49 steals ranked second on that BGSU frosh list ... placed third on the school single-season list for freshmen with 341 points ... led the team in scoring in home games, averaging 14.3 points in the 10 games at Anderson Arena ... shot 55.7% from the field at home.

A four-year letterwinner for coach Roger Achter, her father, at Oregon Clay High School ... a three-time league Player of the Year ... earned that honor in the Great Lakes League as both a sophomore and a junior, as the Eagles captured the league crown each year ... was the Toledo City League P-O-Y as a senior, and earned all-state first-team honors as well ... averaged 24.9 points, 7.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game as a senior ... finished her career as the school[apos]s all-time leading scorer, boy or girl, with 1,564 points ... also had 502 assists and 415 rebounds in her high school tenure ... was the Toledo Blade Player of the Year as a senior, and also was the District 7 and the Northwest Ohio P-O-Y ... a three-time all-district first-team pick ... earned all-state third-team honors as a junior after garnering honorable mention as a sophomore ... an All-Northwest Ohio Second-Team honoree in each of those years ... Kate Elizabeth Achter was born April 30, 1986, in Oregon, Ohio ... sport enterprise major at BGSU ... daughter of Roger and Maryann Achter ... the oldest of four children ... has a pair of sisters and a brother ... father played baseball at BGSU ... has played club ball for the North Coast Hurricanes and the Roppe Rockers, helping the former team to a national ninth-place finish in 2001-02.
