Brendan Murphy wrapped up his first season with the Bowling Green State University women's soccer coaching staff in 2017. Murphy joined the staff as a volunteer assistant coach under head coach Matt Fannon.
Murphy most recently worked in Philadelphia, Pa. for UK Soccer Elite. In that role, he trained and coached youth travel teams throughout their spring and summer seasons.
Prior to his work in Philadelphia, Murphy was a collegiate soccer player at the University of Kentucky and Northern Kentucky University from 2010-2014. He played two seasons at Kentucky and appeared in 31 games. He started seven of those and earned Conference USA Player of the Week honors on Nov. 8, 2010.
At Northern Kentucky, Murphy played 18 games and started 13 as a junior. He posted two goals against both Jacksonville and IPFW and earned two assists in two other games. During his senior season, he started 17 of 18 contests and led the Norse with four goals and five assists. All four goals were game winners. He led NKU to a 9-4-6 overall record and a 5-2-1 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Following the season, he was named to the ASC All-Conference first team.Â
Murphy was born on Nov. 29, 1991 and hails from Tamworth, England. He owns a degree in communication studies from NKU.
