Greg McQuillin
- Title:
- Assistant Softball Coach
- Email:
Greg McQuillin joined the BGSU softball staff in August of 2024. McQuillin joined the Falcons after spending the previous six years at the University of Arizona.
In McQuillin's first season on the BGSU staff, the 2025 Falcons posted an overall record of 16-36 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 7-19. BGSU topped both the overall and MAC win totals for the previous two years combined.
The 2025 team scored 219 runs, the fourth-highest total in program history, and BGSU ranked in the top five in school history in a total of seven offensive categories, including runs per game (4.21, fifth); RBI (198, third); walks (153; fifth); batters hit by pitch (32, third); on-base percentage (.350; fifth) and sacrifice flies (13, tie-third).
Individually, Addie Martin was named to the MAC’s All-Freshman Team. She hit 13 homers, the second-highest single-season total in program history. With 15 stolen bases, Martin became the first player in program history to hit at least 12 homers and steal at least 12 bases in the same season.
McQuillin and the rest of the BGSU staff had just four seniors on the 2025 roster. Two of those four players did not see action this spring, and only one senior played in any games after March 8.
He joined the softball program at Arizona, his alma mater, in September of 2018 as a student manager, and was named a graduate assistant in 2022.
During his time with the powerhouse program, he helped the Wildcats make three College World Series appearances in his six years, with UA advancing as far as the Super Regionals on four occasions.
He began his tenure serving as a bullpen catcher, and transitioned to working with both the offense and the defense. In 2023, his first season as the team’s GA, McQuillin was the team’s first-base coach while assisting in offense, defense and pitch calling.
McQuillin’s first three years at UA saw head coach Mike Candrea’s team post an overall record of 111-32.
His sister, Taylor McQuillin, was a pitcher for the Wildcats, and now pitches professionally with Athletes Unlimited in addition to being an assistant coach at Southern Utah University.
Greg McQuillin received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from Arizona in May of 2022, and earned a Master of Science degree in Business Administration in June of 2024.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to Bowling Green softball,” said McQuillin. “I am excited to join a program with such an amazing leader and group of staff looking to build something special.
“I look forward to getting to work with the student athletes, athletic department, and the community to help build BGSU softball into something great both on and off the field. The future of BGSU softball is bright, and I cant wait to hop on this journey with everyone at BGSU!”
