Sunny Marchand returned to Bowling Green as a part of head coach Kerrie Turner’s staff to begin the 2019 season. A native of Pelham, N.H., Marchand was originally named an assistant coach in September of 2013 before returning in 2019.
Marchand was a four-year member of the BGSU gymnastics team, competing in a total of 29 meets from 2010-2013.
As a BGSU gymnast, she saw time on vault, bars and floor. Marchand participated on vault for Turner in every meet as a senior in 2013, and tied a career-high on Feb. 23 by scoring a 9.825.
Marchand scored a 9.750 on the floor on Jan. 23, 2011 at Northern Illinois to finish first, while she posted scores on vault of 9.725 or higher across seven different meets in 2010.
The second-year assistant was integral in the team’s success in the classroom in 2013, as nine Falcons were named NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans.
In her second stint at BGSU, Marchand has quickly helped to improve the program. In 2019, the team went 2-14 in head-to-head competition but improved to 10-12 just one season later in 2020.
